Punched fuel hose to the tank - filler fuel pipe
1 Attachment(s)
I filled my tank for the first time -I'm new owner- and the day after, I did find a little gasoline splash by the driver side rear wheel...so I went down to the floor to see what's happening: I have a punched hose -the one attached rigth to the fuel tank; I've looked for this part on the internet, but I only can find it as a whole unit...see the attached picture
Has any body replced just the hose? where can I order this? UPDATE: it was replaced today. I tried to get ONLY the hose from –US- junkyards and dealers on-line...but everybody offered it as a single unit with the goose neck!...the real issue was that junks did not have it and dealers asked for $128 - $180. So finally I’d find one complete piece for $25 (locally in ES) from Escape 2010 –the pipe has no cap by design- reason why I just couldn’t replace as a single unit. The guy told me that they did damage 2 previous hoses trying to separate it from the pipe…but actually one has to be careful cutting the welded clamp on the pipe side and then, it’s done. Finally, I just replaced the good hose without removing my FEH goose neck pipe, I just installed it –forcing a little the hose to coupling it on both ends (first pipe, then tank) and installed normal clamps on both ends! |

Re: Punched fuel hose to the tank - filler fuel pipe
bravo to you. I have a top post with a few replies about busting a cut into the plastic hose just off the capless top of the unit.
used jb weld - so far so good. i did see that welded clamp and that is the first time seeing something like that in all my years - and i have been working on cars for more than 30 years. That is an engineers screw-up. One has to cut it off - and no matter how you do it, cutting produces friction and that causes heat - AND then there is an explosion from the gas - well one should drain the gas first. Well I guess they do not want you to cut it off - just replace the entire unit. WHAT a waste. the clamp at the gas tank spout is a regular clamp. I am NOT impressed with that design |
