What's the highest horsepower U get?
For people with a SG...
What is the highest horsepower you have ever seen on the ScanGauge? The HP is only reading the ICE horsepower, not the electric or combined. Today, going up a freeway on-ramp "flooring it" I hit 143 HP @ 5880 rpm. ( the pedal was not to the floor, but the tach was pretty close to red-line.) :shade: -John |
Re: What's the highest horsepower U get?
I don't have a scan guage but you may be interested in some Dyno numbers.
Someone posted on another forum about an article from Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine that dyno'd a 2005 Escape Hybrid (March 2005, pages 90-94). It stated that the FEH produced 141HP and 239 lb ft torque versus the V6 152HP and 148 lb ft. Edit: I found a link to the article online here . It talks about the dyno results about half way through the article. |
Re: What's the highest horsepower U get?
I have wondered why the ICE's HP and the EV's HP don't simply add up?
I mean, why isn't the total HP the ICE's 133 plus the EV's 94, giving a total of 227 when both are running ?? |

Can the FEH actually produce 239 ft lb of torque at an operating rpm or is that just an instantaneous value before the wheels begin to rotate on the dyno? And that torque value must be relatively short lived as the battery would quickly run down under full load, right? I own the FEH and have driven the V6 Escape, and under real world driving conditions it felt like the V6 had more torque, but apparently not. |
Re: What's the highest horsepower U get?
Sure that torque value is short lived... but high torque is short lived in nearly all driving conditions... hybrid or not.
The Torque is actually over 1000 ft/lbs at under 5 MPH in the FEH. Then it goes down quickly as RPM increases. The 239 must have been the "average" during acceleration from zero to 60 in the shortest time ( 10-11sec? ) or something. I agree, more explanation is needed. C'mon ScanGauge owners... what's the highest you see in your FEH? I got 143 HP ( engine only ) at 5800 RPM. |

Re: What's the highest horsepower U get?
Here is the generic code ( like water temp ) that works in ALL vehicles.
Thus, you should not need to change this code if you move it from vehicle to vehicle. It works for sure in a 2008 Mustang, as well as the FEH. 00 400080000000 0000 000A00170000 HPR http://www.scangauge.com/support/pdfs/XGAUGE.pdf |

Re: What's the highest horsepower U get?
I remember reading you cannot get peak HP of each at the same time.
With a 94HP electric traction motor ( that never comes close to that ) you could have ICE at near peak, and the TM just kicking in an extra 20 HP. Ford published max. combined output as 155HP. I don't know for sure, but I figured the SG was only reading the ICE, since I get 0.0HP whenever I am in EV mode... and using some electric HP. -John |
