wrench light but DTC is not for blend door
Hi
I have a 07 FEH with 109K miles. I replaced the blend door motor last april before it failed. I had no issues until days started to get warmer then the wrench icon came on. Thinking it was the blend door I had planned to pick up another actuator from the ford dealer but decided to check the fans to be sure.
Both were operating fine and running in a variable speed depending on acceleration.
I found the settings for my scanguage to pull DTC from Bat CPU and the code
0A27 P0A27 came up. I googled this DTC and found info about a new short cable that may need to be installed in the traction battery.
I am not seeing any red triangle warnings or SSN messages only Service Soon.
I have my car registered to the my ford and there is no history listed.
Should this be something Ford will do or should I just order the cable and install?
I am a technician (not auto) and I had no issues inspecting the squirrel blowers.
MECs pump is 9 months old, and scanguage temp is reading 80's.

Re: wrench light but DTC is not for blend door
You'll need to do it unless you're under extended warranty. Ford replaced this cable at no cost during a specified time period if there was a problem, but that time period has long passed. A mechanic friend and I replaced mine several months ago a a preventive measure. Contrary to the instructions, we were able to do it WITHOUT removing the HVTB from the vehicle. I have some pictures of it and a brief description of the procedure floating around somewhere. I'll provide a link this evening.

Re: wrench light but DTC is not for blend door
Well I found out from a call with Ford the update was done in 2009. So that means the code is now just ignored by the main control module, most likely from the firmware update.
I ordered a new blend door motor which I am sure (99%) will turn off the wrench.
It was 60 degrees this morning and it was out and stayed out till it warmed up later in the day.
Thanks
Chuck
