Hi - I'm new- Jan 31 I got a 06 Civic

Hi - I have been reading your blogs. I have a few comments/questions. I love my new car. 2006 Honda Civi Hybrid silver with blue. I'm not sure if I'm driving it right the best to get the 50 MPGS.. So far only around 40 to 44 (one time 38!) I live in Atlanta- TRAFFIC and HILLS!! Any suggestions? I watch the gages and I keep record on paper - miles and gallons to fill up. More to come!! :shade:

Polly,
Dig around in the forums. There are lots of threads that talk about how to maximize mileage - too many ideas to try to summarize in one post!

Polly-
I have an '04 model but most of these tips should also work for you:
https://www.greenhybrid.com/learn/ar...fficiency.html

The only thing I'd change in that article is to accelerate with slowest speed as practical, and not count how many bars of Assist are on.

I live in the Braselton area and travel from N. Ga 46 miles into Atlanta at about 5:00PM (99.9% traffic is headed out on the other side of I-85) but traffic can still get pretty heavy. Then I do another 46 miles back home at 2:00AM.
Because of my odd hours and sometimes extreme measures for efficiency I've done pretty good.

Probably the main tip I can provide as a summary is to drive with the load (read the article), stay in the Right lane and go a little slower (Slower traffic stays Right) and raise it over 60 and 80MPG as much as possible.

I also made a video for my trip into work, I guess it's still available for download here:
https://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/...7&postcount=32
I did about 63MPG that day despite the winds like we have had lately.
Windshield, rearview, mileage meter, road grade and IMA indicators are all there along with a few tips.
Lakedude may also have a video there for download as well.

Welcome to the community !:D
BTW What area are you in?
