Telsa vs Volt; expectations

Tesla Vs Volt

Never mind the fact that New York had a fleet of electric taxis running in Manhattan in 1897: If you believed the hype surrounding the launch of the Tesla Roadster from some sections of the media, you'd almost think this Silicon Valley startup invented the electric car.
Which car will succeed, the Volt or the Tesla? Or which car will finally pave the way?[/quote]

MY VOTE is the Telsa. I am sure you recall - GM KILLED THE EV1. My faith is certainly not on GM. They are just too busy making their HUMMERS. After all, that is what replaced the EV1. How efficient was that-huh? We shall see with the rising gas prices if they also decide to crush the HUMMERS- HIGHLY DOUBTFUL!!!! They will continue making large GAS GUZZLING SUVs. Just look at the facts...the majority of GM's product line is GAS GUZZLERS (vehicles getting less than 20 mpg).

Here we go again. Any documents to back up this statement--Hummers replaced the EV1?

Re: Telsa vs Volt; expectations

It's not really a fair comparison.

1) The Tesla exists. The first three production cars have been made, and there are many more being constructed as we speak.

2) The Volt might never actually exist.

3) There is a $60,000 price difference.

4) There is a practicality issue. I like the Tesla a lot, but it is tiny.

5) Why do you not mention the Fisker Karma? I have a deposit on it-- so I guess I clearly think between the Volt and the Tesla, it wins. It has a 50 mile electric only range, and priced $20k less than a Tesla. It's a little more like a conventional hybrid than the Volt, but the "stealth" mode allows it to operate like an electric car:

Who Killed the Electric Car. It's available to rent. don't quote me, go see the truth. The EV1 assembly line was re-tooled to make the Hummvee. Pretty sure it was the H1, the big one. Nevermind. Too few people care at this point. GM is so far gone...

Referring to Michael Moore's film "Who killed the electric car" as a document is like believing every statement any politicians make at any time anywhere.

Nope, Michael Moore depicts other truths. Chris Paine made the documentary Who Killed the Electric Car.

check out the timeline around 1999, 2000 from the above link.

Reality bites.

EHHHHHH! WRONG!

The EV1 was built at the Lansing Craft Center. This facility was also used to make the Buick Reatta Convertible and other VERY low volume cars.

The H1 was built in Mishawauka (sp?) Wisconsin by AM General. Same for the H2.

Peace,

Martin
