Hybrid OIL Change for 350 bucks?
So I went for the typical OIL change today at Castrol and got a Mobil Synthetic with the a Mobil Oil filter I ordered specifically for the Tahoe off of Amazon. The guy asked me to come take a look under the car and explained that I had a loose oil filter and nut from the last oil change. I had smelled oil a few days before so I was not surprised but a little skeptical as I am with new places. He then told me that all three of the the OIL additives in the front and rear 4 wheel axle where pretty dry and should be changed every 50k. So I asked how much and it was like 400 bucks... I was not happy but he said because I was a first time customer he would do it for 350 including the Oil change. Against my better judgement I relented and so far I feel like the car idles better. Not sure if its just a placebo effect but I did see that the fluid for the 4x4 system should be changed every 50k. Anyway just wanted some feedback from you guys as to the validity of the services I had done and if the Hybrid is the same as the non Hybrid regarding the 4x4 system and fluids.
Thanks!!!!
Thanks!!!!

Re: Hybrid OIL Change for 350 bucks?
I change oil every 3k and have had a complete service (ALL fluids filters trans etc) 3 times since I have owned my 2008. ALL services were performed by the dealer (don't trust your hybrid to any one else because the car is too complex for the average shade tree mechanic). What is the point you might say.....well I only have 70K on my car.....i'm s firm believer in over servicing!

the transaxle, differential and tranny don't need any oil until it reaches 100k miles. it is prelubed with synthetic that can take the beating.
