Unfortunately, the form you downloaded at that address is for the year 2007, and is not valid for he year 2008. The 2008 version IS NOT OUT YET.

 

The form you are referring to on the IRS website is for 2007, not 2008. The 2008 version is not yet available on their websire, as the final has NOT been approved. Some tax software companies are using the proposed form, trying to push it on through. There is the danger that your refund will be held up if you use the form before the final version has been approved.

 

I have already filed my taxes (with a hybrid credit) using Turbo Tax. Should I be concerned? Should I contact Turbo Tax and ask them what they are doing allowing tax returns to be submitted with unapproved forms?

 

We use CrossLink tax software, and we have just been informed today that final approval is expected in a couple of days, with no changes to the proposed form. If there are no changes, as expected, to the proposed form, you should be OK.

 

Ok we are into March and I still dont think it's ready is it? Any ideas at all?? I want my refund!

 

Nope, not ready yet. IRS website says that they're still revising it. I have had my taxes ready to submit (minus this form) for over 3 weeks now and I'm due a refund. But until that form is available, I have to wait (as I'm sure many of us on here have to.)

 

Any one care to call their congressman/senator to ask them to look into why and when? And report back here what you found out.

That's why the congressman/senators have interns and staff.

 

I called the IRS and they are advising that the form should be available on March 5th (Friday.)

 

Per the IRS website with projected dates, 3/11/2009 is the new date the form will be available.
