HCH 1 on Michelin X Radials

There have been a few posts regarding the HCH1 on X Radials. I replaced my original Dunlops with Michelins X Radials from Costco. I have been tracking the mileage and have not seen any considerable increase in fuel consumpton.

I used to get 51 mpg on the Dunlops on Highway and get 50 now. City driving is more in the 42-44 range.

The handling and the noise are much better and the tires are guranteed to 80 K.

Currently I am running 4 fresh Dunlop SP60's (185/70 - 14) all terrain tires, and switched from Bridgestone B 381's. So far I havent noticed any differance in MPG but these are still under 5k miles so we will see how they hold up.

I wanted the Khumo KR21 Solus tires but in a situation of $ and timing ended up having to get 2 at a time and the SP60s were the only ones in stock.

Which Dunlops did you run?

You know what I think? 14" tires really stink !! Those tall sidewalls fold over like paper bags, especially the crappy Dunpops.

Do yourself a favor, get 15" Civic Si wheels or equivalent. I'm running Continental SportContact 195/60R15. The handling is much improved, and fuel economy is very close, maybe 1 - 2 mpg less at the most.

Who knows, a low rolling resistance tire in the above size might accomplish better handling with zero loss of MPG.
