2006 Honda Civic Hybrid *Need New IMA*

Well, I bought mine new Oct 2006. I have about 157,000 miles on it. For the past 3 weeks the Engine light and IMA has turned on and off. I did take it to Autozone for the Free scan and it said "deteriorating battery." I called Honda Warranty and of course I am way passed it and they can't help me at all.

I called my locally Honda Dealer in York, PA and quoted me with this:
$2,092 for new IMA
$120 for shipping
$250 for labor

It should take 1-2 hours to install. I haven't ordered it yet since I do not have the cash right now. The lights are currently off right now but they come back on during the weekends. I noticed that if the car has not been used for at least 12 hours the lights turns on. When I do use it during the workweek it disappears. That's my story. What's yours?

Have a look at www.re-involt.com It may save you a few bucks? H

Has the car undergone the free software update yet?
If the car is running fine other than the light. Ignore it. Otherwise welcome to recals if you get the free update.

Yeah the light keeps popping on and off at least once a week. I went to Honda and I did receive all the necessary recalls that was needed. How in the world did you get 200,000+ miles on your without your IMA not dying yet??

Dumb luck I guess?

I do recall over the summer, the HCH2 was driven only 4-5 days a week b/c we had planned on using up the allowed mileage on our BMW lease (later we decided to keep the car anyway). Every Monday I would start the car after it had sat in the driveway for 3 days and it would fire up just fine except for the warning light on the 12V battery. Took it to dealer, but they said the battery was fine and dandy. Once I started driving it 6 days a week again, warning light disappeared.

Maybe just fire up the car for a few minutes on those days you don't plan on driving it until you can repair or replace the battery pack?

I just got my IMA replaced March 15th 2013 Total cost was $1,900+. Honda gave me 25% off. I have more power than before but gas mileage is till the same about 42 MPG combined.

Paul,

I live in York PA as well. Was that Apple Honda? Bought mine there new in 06, and have about 162K on the clock. I didn't get any of the recalled software work done, but my IMA came on. Did Apple use a reconditioned pack? I have been looking at www.hybridrevolt.com and they sell a new 8AH pack for about the same as Honda charges...
