Civic Hybrid 2 - common tyre pressure

I commented on another post that I would start this thread because it is interesting to me coming from Scotland to hear that someone in your great country is running tyres at 50 psi and 45 psi when our recommendations for our Dunlop SP Sport 300 tyres is 30 psi all round. Any comments people...
In fact any questions of any reasonable kind and an answer will be attempted.

Re: Civic Hybrid 2 - common tyre pressure

American "recommended" pressure is 32-35psi (like all other cars here). The majority of OEM tires appear to have a max sidewall of 44, and I *think* most of the higher efficiency people here run at least 40, if not 44. I'm breaking in a new set of Michelins right now at 40, max sidewall is 44, but once I get about 2000mi on them, I'll actually bump them up to 50.

I must look into this a bit more. I 'think' we run the risk of Insurance companies not paying out if we run our tyres at pressures other than that marked on the rating plate on the drivers door pillar. Thanks for the reply mmrmmhrm.
