Civic Hybrid Running Lights.

Unplugging the running lights, does that have any gas mileage impact?

Thanks.

Although I believe the two electrical systems are separate, even if they weren't it wouldn't really matter. The electric motors use roughly 15,000 watts when in use. You could run with your hi-beams on and only drain 130 watts. Less than 1% impact on the EV system isn't really going to be noticeable.

You'd see the same benefit by dropping 10lbs from your waistline. That might be harder, but for the majority of Americans (and presumably hybrid owners) it'd show much better returns.

Tarabell's famous article addresses this question. Her article shows you how to disable the lights. She also states that disabling the DRLs will net about 0.2 mpg.

What's interesting is that she hasn't tried this herself and presents it as an estimate.

It would seem if you're that determined to cut down on costs or environmental impact, you should also be evaluating when you can take public transportation.
