How many kms(miles)/dot in the fuel tank indicator ??

Hello friends. Has anyone calculated how many km(miles) per dot in the fuel tank indicator can the HCHII travel ( with an average fuel consumption of 45-50 mpg (4.5-5 l/100km) ?

I usually put about 10.4 gallons in, so at 47.5mpg that would be 494 miles on a tank. Subtract the 30 miles or so that I usually drive after all of the pips have disappeared and you're at 23.2 miles (37.2km) per pip.

However, it's not that exact of a science--I frequently will drop a pip and then a few miles later it will magically come back. The other complicating factor is that you might have driven the first half of the tank on the highway (at say 55mpg) and the second half in heavy traffic (say at 40mpg) so the pips would disappear at a different rate for each segment.

The pips dissapear faster towards the end of the tank. I'd say around 25 miles for the 2nd to last, closer to 15 - 20 for the last. I once drove my '06 HCH over 100 miles with no pips. I had a gal of gas in the trunk. I went a total of 701 miles on the tank and put around 11.9 gallons of gas in at fill up.

Thanks for the replies friends. The numbers you give are close to what i was calculating , about 35-40 kms/pip.
