My first 700 mile / 60 mpg tank!

Mostly my optimized 5-mile work commute, and a few trips on the regional expressways to visit people in NW Austin or Downtown. Last 1/4 of the tank was used driving to Kerrville, TX on my way out to a mileage-killing West Texas trip. Actually, My next fill-up was in Big Bend National Park (after driving Kerrville->Del Rio->Marfa->Big Bend). I drove 265 miles in the park, which is hilly to mountainous, and then to Ft. Stockton, TX, and the trip meter showed 58mpg. I was stunned that I could do that in that terrain. Once I hit I-10, though, where the speed limit is 80mph and the terrain is still big hills, I watched it drop to 48mpg. I filled up in Junction, TX and continued to drive 80mph in even hillier terrain. The average from there to San Antonio was about 33-34mpg. Speed Kills, just like they said in those public service announcements back in the day. |
Re: My first 700 mile / 60 mpg tank!
I recently hit my first 700 mile tank also. For some odd reason it is a very satisfying accomplishment.
