Default Theft of alloy wheel center caps

Has this been a problem for anyone else? Stupid design by Honda. Takes all of 3 secs to pry these off.

I can imagine how much they will cost to replace.

I had this problem with my Oldsmobile LSS...it's not just a Honda design, it's pretty much universal. I paid $65/ea on the Olds.

In Honda's eStore they're $32.95 each.

Cheers.

Greg,
Do you have the wheel locks?

Just curious.

I was talking about these:

But they don't protect the cover.

I've had somebody steal a wheelnut, I just happen to notice because I was in the middle of washing my car (first day) and waxing (next day). I suspect they were trying to steal the alloy wheel but noticed that it had wheel locks. Anyway, I had 4 extra lugs when I put the locking nuts on. I just couldn't believe the nerve.

It would seem that stealing one of these covers would only be of value to someone who is in need of one (that is, they had theirs stolen)? I mean what use is it to have without the rest of the wheel? I guess one could turn around and sell it for $20 or something on Ebay but seems not worth the risk to steal a part of something. Don't know maybe it's just me. I haven't had mine taken (knock on wood) yet but I wouldn't be surprised if people steal them just because they can.

It's aluminum, it's recycleable, places pay money to you for brining them aluminum. To the thief, it's free for the taking, every little bit of aluminum they can steal adds to their $$ at the recycling center.
