What is this lens cap looking thing hanging in my glovebox?
Hey guys,
I have a strange plastic camera lens cap looking thing hanging by a plastic cord in the glovebox of my HCH2. See attached.
Anyone know what it is? The cord goes up into the dash somewhere behind the glovebox. I'm afraid to pull on it too hard. Have a funny feeling it might deploy the passenger air bag or something strange

Assuming you have a Navi radio, that is a GPS antenna. It should be up under the top part of the dashboard.
Otherwise it is probably just a antenna for the government tracking and monitoring device that was installed in your car to keep track of you.

Nope. It's always fun to get a used car with unexplainable mysteries. It also had a crappy looking shock sensor wired into the factory loom behind the drivers kick panel which I extracted because I didn't like the blinky light down there.

Oh man, now you guys really have me PARANOID! I pulled down the glove box to have a look in there and found some kind of GPS box, and it was BLINKING! With the ignition off mind you.
It has three leds, they read:
* Cellemetry Communication
* GPS
* Power/Cell/Svc
The latter two were blinking green. It's wired into somewhere towards the middle of the dash, perhaps behind the radio or something (couldn't follow it). Then it's simply laid in the open space next to the cabin filter.
So like, what the hell is it?

Mystery solved: http://gps-applications.com/rover_rt...g%20system.htm
Apparently it's a location tracker. Now I have an idea why my battery goes dead if the car sits for more than a week.
