2005 Accord Hybrid 1/4 mile test results
Just and FYI: 15.65@89.91mph
-Bone stock Accord Hybrid - 17" Honda HFP wheels and tires - TL rear sway bar - 87 octane - 1/4 tank of gas - Transmission in D not D3 or shifting manually - mid to high 50 degree temps - 150ft elevation - tire pressures 32 front and 32 rear - IMA battery level was only at 3 bars (I think this is why i lost some of the top end speed) So there you have it. The average Hybrid Accord as it is typically driven on the street with no weight reductions done and first time at the track. http://www.v6performance.net/gallery...5_65_89_91.jpg |

And your MPG was? :)

Re: 2005 Accord Hybrid 1/4 mile test results
That'd be very cool to see what the change is with a full pack!
I see a R/T piece on draggin' hybrids... beyond what was done at Bonneville in the Prius. |

I still averaged over 32mpg on the trip to, at and from the track. (70 miles all together) |

No, I haven't. But my neighbor is swearin' up an down that his Altima can cook me. I smell free beer coming my way. I need to get on a tank that's trashed so I don't care about killing mpg on it. I think he'd beat me to 60, but I can pull out the 1/4 mile, looking at your #s.

As far as killing mpg I really do it all the time and still end up with more than 30mpg. This is coming from an average of 15mpg in my old Lancer Evolution so I'm pretty **** content with driving around at 30mpg and enjoying the electric assist as much as possible and of course watching the standar V6 accords fall behind quickly from lights. |

I just ran my car tonight.
15.89 sec @ 92.9 mph 15.90 sec @ 93.2 mph 1100 feet 95 degrees tires at 35 psi 2100 miles on the car stock everything *timed with a G-Tech Pro accelerometer accurate to within 1/100 sec. |
Re: 2005 Accord Hybrid 1/4 mile test results
hehe yeah they are pretty accurate, but the mph always shows high on those things. Your times seem right considering the altitude and heat. Now go down to firebird and get some real times! ;) I used to go up there when I lived in tucson. Lots of fun!

Re: 2005 Accord Hybrid 1/4 mile test results
Nah, Firebird is all the way across town! I'd rather go to Speedworld Motorplex. Wednesday nights is run what ya brung all night long for $10. :)

Re: 2005 Accord Hybrid 1/4 mile test results
bar, any concern about dragstrip redline revs on a HAH with only 2100 miles? It seemed like my HAH only loosened up (break in) at about 2000 miles. Guess it's OK but would make me nervous. I remember an old saying 'break her in like you intend to drive her" but never put much stock into it.

Re: 2005 Accord Hybrid 1/4 mile test results
No, modern ECU's are supposed to protect a vehicle and not let it rev past a very low threshold for engine damage.
The transmission was in D the whole time, and shifted at the factory set defaults throughout the entire runs. Someone that's skilled in "auto-sticking" would probably get better times than I. Here's something to think about: unless you witnessed the car you bought being taken off the truck, and only driven back to the maintenance bay for prepping... someone that possibly test drove your car before you bought it stomped on the gas from a dead stop and ran it through the gears and up to high speeds just to "see what she can do." I know that's always been my biggest fear. When I first test drove the HAH (three months before acutally buying one) the salesman that went on the test drive with me *told* me to get on the gas to feel the 255 horses. And even told me to push her around some corners to feel how compliant the suspension and tracking was. Hell, I remember when I first test drove my '93 GMC. I didn't intend on buying it, so when I went on the test drive, I rapidly ran her through all five gears from stop light to stop light, full throttle. Even took her on the interstate for about 15 miles, sometimes in excess of 80 mph! This truck was such an improvement over my 4 cyl, that I wanted to get a feel for the extra power of the V6. I eventually decided it was worth the upgrade and went back to buy it. More than 12 years, 177K miles, and a whole hell of a lot of abusive driving later, she still runs great. I have constantly achieved EPA numbers of 19/25. It hasn't dropped yet. I have seen mileage as low as 17 and as high as 27, but she still averages the 19/25. |
Re: 2005 Accord Hybrid 1/4 mile test results
I know what you mean about the test drive scenario. That's why I felt fortunate that the only white HAH on the lot with NAV was sitting in the back where the carrier unloads, had not been prepped (it still had plastic stretched over the front seats and console as well as the white film type paint protectant) with the odometer showing a total of 3 miles. I guess it could have been romped on during the 3 miles (manufacturer test drive and transit to loading point?), I don't know.
BTW, nice original '59 Fairlaine, right down to the dice hanging from the mirror. Those chrome "fender skirts" are way cool. |
Re: 2005 Accord Hybrid 1/4 mile test results
Thanks! :) Nice car, horrible mileage.
When I was looking for my HAH, one dealer had one on the back lot that only had 4 miles on the odo. I really wanted that one, but another dealer had one with 145 miles on the clock but at a little over $1K less than the lower mileage one! I couldn't justify the extra $1K, so I went with the higher (test driven a lot) mileage car. Afterall, it's a Honda. |
Re: 2005 Accord Hybrid 1/4 mile test results
The GMC I bought only had 7 miles on it when I test drove it. I think I brought it back to the lot with a little over 40 miles. When I came back to the dealership, the salesman looked nervous. He said he didn't think I was coming back! I told him I wanted to drive it over a wide range of roads to get a good feel for how the truck ran. Poor salesguy...
