HAH Reliability

There is an '05 HAH for sale locally for about $13k. Mileage isn't listed, but my crystal ball tells me it's over 80k.

Consumer Reports reports that the electrical reliability for this year is Well Below Average (black dot).

Can you all confirm what the problem they are reporting on might be? Electrical is pretty vague esp when considering the IMA components. I want to know if it's a $77 software update or a $4000 battery.

Thanks in advance, noflash

2006 w/ 40K miles (second owner)

I have had no problems at all. I love this car 10x more than my civic. Larger, more power, better seats, more power, quieter, more power...

However, I am waiting for the transmission to explode as it did in my 03 Accord and 03 Ody...

PS- I did get a Honda Certified car, with that confidence I bought used. Not sure I'd feel the same about a non-cert, high mileage car. I'd lean towards a 4-cyl manual Accord IMHO

Re: HAH Reliability

That is good advice. A manual trans 4 cyl would prob return identical mileage. I just need to find one with heated leather seats!

Re: HAH Reliability

55K on my HAH and I still love it. The only electrical problem I had was the driver's door power lock started to lock/unlock a lot slower than the other doors. Dealer replaced it under warranty, even though I was past 36K. Nice guys. :)

Re: HAH Reliability

The HAH has 84k miles on it. Quite a bit more than I am comf. with.

Cheers, nf

Re: HAH Reliability

Mine has 72K. The only problem has been a bad cell in the ordinary 12v battery. Should have been a simple at-home fix, but because the symptoms were electrical and it is a hybrid, I took it to the dealer and wound up paying them $77 in labor to diagnose and replace the battery. Not too bad, but in another car I probably would have figured it out and replaced it myself.

All that said, I love my 05 HAH.
