gas gauge in 2005 civic hybrid, any way to recalibrate it?

Yeah, happens to lots of us who push tanks towards empty. All you can do is track how many gallons you actually filled when it got down to 0 or 1 bar, and figure how many more miles you actually have left for the next time.

i second that. the gas gauge jumps all over the place for the last 4 bars, nothing much you can do about it. I think it has to do with the shape of the gas tank and the slope you are driving on that affects the gauge measurement.
this is because the surface of liquid stays perpendicular to the force of gravity, so if the car is pointed uphill, the gauge may read the amount of gas somewhat differently than if the car is pointed downhill or if it is on a flat road. This reading error is amplified as the amount of gas in the tank dwindles, because the bottom of the tank tapers/funnels. correct me if i'm wrong.
you may not notice this effect so much on other cars which have a somewhat vague needle-dial gauge instead of very distinguishable (and countable) multiple LED "bars" to indicate fuel level.
