HCH I - throwing a CEL and a IMA light

88k miles, manual. Is it very urgent? Thoughts on cause?

I didnt drive the car for 2 weeks, and BAM it happend as I was driving on the freeway going 70.

I have had all the TSB's done, and hopefully my aftermarket (GE) extended warranty will cover it! (I have a California, PZEV model I believe)

If you have a CALI car, it may be covered under the factory warranty, depending on what it is. If it's the hybrid-battery (for instance) you should be factory warrantied. Read about it in your manual. And find out for sure if you have the PZEV. Maybe signing up at Honda's Owners Link could tell you this. I'm sure a VIN-lookup tool can tell you.

Good point, thanks.

The IMA light turned off, and now its just a CEL. The dealer said to give it a couple days and go back of it still tripped. thanks!

You can try to reset your car's computer by disconnecting your 12V for 5 or 10 min. When you reconnect it, the error lights will be cleared, unless the error reappears. Also, the battery display will recalibrate and your MPG display will be reset.

Same thing happened to me. It happened at 120,000 miles. Took it to the dealer and 2 days and a new IMA battery later she runs just fine.

I also have a California car and all your IMA "stuff" is covered for 150,000 miles.

Crap, the window on my car says I have a SULEV.

That means i'm only covered till 80k, correct?

hweldon, can you let me know where you got your car repaired @?

(i'm close to you)

I think the SULEV does get the 10-year/100,000 mile warranty. It has a more advanced emissions system than the ULEV. You should be covered, especially if you live in CA.

The wiki refers to the emissions components, but not the hybrid related stuff.

Good food for thought tho. Thanks guys; I will disconnect the battery, and if it continues will bring it in to the dealership. (will keep you updated of course)

Re: HCH I - throwing a CEL and a IMA light

I found a link to info regarding 2004 Honda warranties; maybe that will help.

http://corporate.honda.com/press/art...=2003100849312

(Did they ever say if it might be possible that the problem had something to do with the fact that you didn't drive the car for 2 weeks? I know the manual says if you aren't going to drive the car for a month, it's bad for the battery; just wondering what effect sitting idle for 2 weeks may have had.)

A dealer in Irvine said it may have been the random weather we are having down here (cold, then hot, collddd again) and the fact that I didnt drive it for 2 weeks.

Thanks Gairwyn for that link. I will let you guys know what happens!
