Honda Hybrid over 260,000
I would like to hear some feedback on whether or not to invest in a 260000 mile HCH, 2004 in real good condition, but lots of highway miles. How long can this thing last--what is the real cut-off point of no return?
Thanks! |
Re: Honda Hybrid over 260,000
...and what would it be worth? Supposedly there is a recent battery change....what other big ticket items are on the horizon for it?

Re: Honda Hybrid over 260,000
There's no way to say what it would be worth. Probably worth what someone will pay.
If the maintenance is up, she should last for quite a few more miles. I have a 2003 HCH with 210,000 on it and still get around 50 mpg. Battery was changed at 120,000 under warranty. I would really be aware of the tranny if its a CVT. That's kind of the weak link. |
Re: Honda Hybrid over 260,000
Yeah, it just had a battery installed about a year ago and it does have a manual tranny. So maybe it will last a bit?

Re: Honda Hybrid over 260,000
I'm coming up on 280,000 miles on my 2003 HCH with manual transmission. The IMA battery has never been replaced even though the IMA/CEL lights have been on since about 175,000. I don't get much assist any more, and auto stop isn't as consistent as it was, but as long as the DC-DC converter charges my 12V battery I will keep driving it (barring an ICE or other major failure). The car has never stranded me.
If I could find a first generation HCH with under 125,000 miles I would be willing to part with $5,000. With 260,000 miles I wouldn't go much more than a grand. My 2 cents.... |
Re: Honda Hybrid over 260,000
The Honda Civic Hybrid is a hybrid powertrain version of the Honda Civic, first introduced in Japan near the end of 2001.
