Navi Fixes?

I have a few gripes about how power is sent to the Navi unit.
1. Everytime I start the car the Navi unit starts up and then begins to play the radio or a cd or the PC card. Then if I turn the car off and turn the ignition to Accessory position like for a FAS or whatever, the Navi unit stays on. However, as soon as I restart the car the Navi unit restarts and I have to wait for it to load...press the OK button....and then wait for the unit to begin playing music again. Really, really annoying! Is there a fix for this? I have a few ideas, about hot wiring the unit to the ACC switch or a few other ideas but I don't want to mess with the wiring if I don't have too.

2. In all my other vehicles when I turn off the ignition and take out the key, I continue to have residual power for at least like 10 min, the radio will continue to operate, windows are still operational, etc. Is there a way to fix this as well, or change the programing? This is something every simple Honda could have done but annoys the hell out of me!
Thanks for any suggestions.

I agree especially with your #2 gripe. My Isuzu Ascender (rebadged GMC Envoy) has this feature. Radio and other equipment stays active until you open the driver's door or 10 minutes pass. It also has a timer for headlights and dome light to prevent accidental battery discharge. That would have been a handy feature on the Civic.

Re: Navi Fixes?

I just realized, messing around with the car that the windows work for 10 min. after I take out the key....but still no Navi. Also, I know that the unit is getting power because the screen will still open and close and it will eject both the cd or dvd. It must be something in the programming...this may be harder than I originally expected.

Re: Navi Fixes?

It is embedded in the firmware that drives the NAV unit. When guicide gets some time and we can all pool our efforts together, we'll try and hack this software and see what we can come up with. I know for certain hes got the startup image changed, but the nonag workaround has everyone STUMPED....
