Noise when applying break

I have a 2006 HCH that has 2595 miles on it. Lately I've noticed when applying the break, I hear a "fart-like" sound coming from the left side of the car. And no, it's not me. :-) It's intermittent.

Ideas as to what it can be?

Cheers,

Karen

Karen,

Your HCH is a little young for this but hybrids don't use the friction brakes much so the rotors tend to rust. This can cause some noise when the brakes are applied. You can see if they have any rust by looking through the wheels. Good luck.

I have experienced the same thing with my 06 HCH (took delivery Dec. 1 '05) and have no idea what it is.

Just had that happen for the first time myself this morning while pulling out of the apartment complex. Left front is where it came from, but it didn't sound anything like the wet morning squeal my old sable would give.
