a place for 06 civic hybrid mpg

My girlfriend has an '06 Honda Civic Hybrid. I am sure she has accumulated the most mileage of anyone on the site with over 2,500 miles. So far the average mileage from day one has been 51 mpg. Last tank was 54.4 mpg.

Mpg's are calulated by filling the tank brim to brim, not by using the computer
onboard readout, even though it is reasonably close. Fuel is regular grade.

If anyone else has any '06 Honda Civic Hybrid mpg stats please post them.

Safe driving...Alster & Lisa

That's about what I'm getting too, averaging 50.7 mpg 187 miles into my first tank.

I'm begining to really change my mind about the HCH... that mpg is awesome. And comparing Nav equiped HCH and Prius, the HCH is a lot less expensive.

What's the most accurate way to calculate MPG? With my current car, I reset the triptick when the gas light comes on and then figure out the MPG when the light comes on again. Please let me know if there's a better way.

Re: a place for 06 civic hybrid mpg

I use the triptick to capture number of miles driven in between occurences of the low fuel light. I'll divide this number by the number of gallons the tank holds. By figuring out how many miles were driven in between fuel lights, I know I'm getting a full tank's worth. It seems easier and just as accurate as the official way to figure out FE. Please let me know if I'm completely cooked because I don't have anyone else to bounce this off of.

Here's the official way:

1. Fill your car's gas tank.
2. Before you drive away, write down the odometer reading.
3. Drive until you need more gas.
4. Refill the gas tank.
5. Record how much gas it took to fill the tank this time.
6. Write down the odometer reading.
7. Subtract the first odometer reading from the second one: This is the number of miles (or kilometers) you drove since the last time you filled up.
8. Divide the number of miles or kilometers driven by the gallons or liters of gas you just put in the tank. This is your gas mileage.
