Replace IMA Battery yourself?
Hi,
Can anyone point me to some online instructions for replacing bad IMA battery cells yourself? I just got a quote to replace a failing IMA battery, and it's just not worth it. But I'd like to drive the car longer. I hear you can pick up cells at junkyards, and replace the bad ones yourself, but I'm a person who likes to have pretty explicit step-by-step instructions. Anyone know of a website, or some other place with good instructions for doing this? Thanks! |

Have you checked a Honda Civic Hybrid factory manual?

Re: Replace IMA Battery yourself?
A couple places you might want to start your search.
http://www.re-involt.com/ http://www.hybrid-battery-repair.com/ Keep in mind of course the HCH IMA battery pack has an output voltage of 144V DC and a current of 100 amps which could easily kill you if you don't know what you are doing. Good luck.... |

I'd like to know too. I have a 2005 hch with 145k and it just went out and the dealership is asking for 3800 bucks for a new one. Does anybody have any pics on what the ima battery pack looks like?
