The '05 was 30,140, but they had to offer rebates just to move them off the lots anyway so.... I'd say it's clear they didn't learn from history and are doomed to repeat it.

They are stuck with the IMA linked to the V6. It has to be in the $30K range. But going up in price when they aren't moving all that well.. That's a tough one.

Looks to me that with Nav. option the HAH goes for $32,950.00 Plus $550.00 For Destination Charges.

I think Expensive::lightbulb

Thats why the HCH ll Is going to continue to be a Big-Hit for 2006.;) (IMO)

Hooray for more realistic EPA testing standards! Obviously the 2006 (rated 25/34) gets the same mileage as the 2005 (rated 30/37), they're just using more realistic testing standards for hybrids now, though it's not yet the overhaul they plan on doing. The Accord I-4 is still 26/34 (manual) and 24/34 (automatic).

I'm glad of this because it means the Camry Hybrid (43/37) would be that much better, assuming Toyota used the EPA's revised hybrid testing procedures when they stated that figure.

Of course, what will this mean for hypermiler status on this website? People need only exceed 29 mpg in the HAH now!

According to TOV, the difference in the fuel economy estimates is due to different testing parameters used by the EPA for the HAH only, not for all hybrids. The 06 HAH moved to another EPA car class due to the increase in weight (the addition of a full size spare/moonroof).

The increase in weight was like 88 lbs (for the 2006 Accord Hybrid) and with the Camry Hybrid coming in at about 200lbs less in weight, I'm sure it won't be in that same EPA class (unfortunately for the EPA estimate accuracy).

Just for information purposes:

2006 Honda Accord Hybrid weight - 3538 lbs
2006 Toyota Camry Hybrid weight - 3367 lbs

Not having to drag around that V6 probably helps alot.

Sounds plausible, but still fishy. What's different in the test? Its still a mid-size, isn't it? I have a feeling that the real #s will come in the same as the 05, though. That's where my $$ is placed.

Xcel- any chance you know some of the test nuances among 'weight classes.'?

I woud think/hope that had Honda used a different procedure for any reason, it would have been mentioned in a release somewhere. They ain't dumb- if they had an external factor to explain it, they would tell to mitigate the (shame) of lower mpg when everyone is barking for the opposite trend.

Then again, this is the same company that thought making a V6 version without at least an accompanying I4 version was a good idea... to the tune of a whole 14000 units sold.

According to this page the hybrid is 3637 pounds. It says the other models are 3300 to 3500 pounds. They also report a 0-60 time of 8.9 seconds according to Toyota for the hybrid.
