Barry Bonds is an American baseball player isn't he ?

I have both Ford and GM bonds, yes there are risky, but so far my yield is 5.5% with Ford and 11.1 % to 13.8 % with GMAC.

I am concerned and dissapointed with their cars, but on the financing side I have faith on the American people buying their product for a while yet.

Of course the yields are high. That's cause they are going into bankruptcy in a few years and you'll never get your principle back! :-)

Just trying to start a trouble here - my crystal ball isn't any clearer than anyone elses.

Ford seems to be more adaptable than GM. But are they adaptable ENOUGH? That's a question that's yet unanswered.

As it stands now, I think there's an 80% chance that Ford will be around in 10 years. I give GM about 50% chance.

They will definitly be around, the govt' will make sure of that at tax payer's expense. (see Chrysler in the mid-80's).

Ford has the hybrid Escape. Sure it is an SUV and the technology came from Toyota but at least they have a hybrid.

GM has ???? A pickup that is sorta like a hybrid that only a few people can buy?

I currently own a Ford and a Chevy. As nice as the Vette is in some ways it is a piece of dung in others. Nothing about my Ford is special but it does not have any major issues either.

GM is old and gotten fat living on SUV "cream". They are ripe for a heart attack.

I honestly hope GM pulls their head out and gets back on track but I doubt they can.

Typically bond-holders are the first ones that have to be repaid in bankruptcy court. Before suppliers, stock holders, and even employees in some cases. Typically being the bond holder of a very large company is safe, even when they are technically "junk" bonds.

Didn't Chrysler repay all their bonds even after they went bankrupt? I recall some stories about how they were one of the best investments you could make because the raw assets of the company exceeded the cost to repay all the bonds, thus guaranteeing you'd get your money back, even if the company was sold off as scrap.
