Weight gain means lower gas mileage.

Weight gain means lower gas mileage.

Want to spend less at the pump? Lose some weight. That's the implication of a new study that says Americans are burning nearly 1 billion more gallons of gasoline each year than they did in 1960 because of their expanding waistlines. Simply put, more weight in the car means lower gas mileage.
I have actually thought about this before, but it is funny to see that somebody did a "study" on it.

I mean REALLY - is this something that we needed to spend money on knowing?

Hey, I volunteer to do a study on whether WATER is REALLY WET or not.

Anyone want to finance that?

I don't think the study accounts for people getting bigger vehicles as they get bigger.

If they ignored that - even more gas is being wasted.

I'm already small, if I lost 100 lbs I would be a head with no body.

I lost 30 pounds this year. Maybe that's why I've been getting 43 MPG instead of 42. Too cool!

Better yet, your people miles per gallon are increasing. Just do not think it will grant you HOV lane access.;)

Sometimes I get to drive around with 4 people, although two of them only weigh 15 and 43 pounds. Anyway, I've surpassed 250 people miles per gallon on some round trips.:D
