Re: 2006 HCH Brake Pads -

The regenerative braking doesn't use the friction (traditional) brake system at all. Instead, it uses the same electric motor that gives you assist as a generator. When acting as a generator, the...

Re: 2 Free OEM tires

LOL! I think you're on the same schedule that I'm on :). Too bad you don't live closer--with two new tires, I could get though the summer without replacing mine.

Re: 2006 HCH Brake Pads -

It shouldn't matter if you are using OEM Honda pads or after market pads. With every car I've owned before the hybrids, I've gone to after markets when the time came to replace them and I've...

Re: My 07 HCH-II Officially Declared A Lemon

Interesting recap (although a little difficult to read without paragraph breaks ). I've been wondering when the first "lemon" was going to come up.

I'm at 37,000 miles now so I'm...

Re: Air conditioning kills IMA Battery - 2006 HCH

It's called a battery recalibration (or battery crash) when the battery goes from 5+ bars to 1 in a matter of seconds, and I'm willing to bet that it would happen for you with or without the A/C on. ...

Re: Ran out of gas...

With today's fuel pumps, running out of gas isn't the problem that it used to be with a liquid-cooled pump. If you notice any problems with (unusually) rough acceleration, have the fuel pump checked.

Re: Retraction Of Previous Post

I'm glad things are working better for you!!! The "letting the foot off the gas" part is what we call "fake shifting" and I do it all the time to get the RPMs to go down as low as possible. I keep...

Re: Who has daily battery dumps or recals?

Before having TSB-0958 applied, I was having recalibrations every other day. After that was applied, the frequency went down a lot last summer, and I only had 2 or 3 of them over the winter. ...

Re: Not Very Happy With Civic Hybrid

My lifetime mpg (no longer tracked on this site) is 49.9. I work at it, but I also have a lot of mountian driving (often with bikes on the roof), and winter driving (with studded snow tires). I...

Re: 2006 HCHII with 108K, IMA light came on

Good thing you've got the IMA light on--most of us just have to sit around and wait for it since Honda won't do anything without an IMA light...

Re: Last Chapter: IMA Experience Unfolding

I'm glad to hear things sound OK again! Keep updating this thread if you have any future problems with it, but my fingers are crossed that you don't have to!

Re: IMA Experience Unfolding

I don't know, I had never heard that term before and since it didn't fix the problem, I didn't ask them about what it was.

Re: Battery Dumps it's charge after vehicle is parked.

I've had updates twice (at least) and never been charged a dime.

Re: battery fumes coming into car

I've taken my HCH II over some of the highest roads in the country (Trail Ridge Rd, Loveland Pass, Hoosier Pass, Berthoud Pass) and never experienced anything like that. For many of those drives, I...

Re: IMA Experience Unfolding

My recent experience was with the CVT, but if you replaced "IMA Motor Drive" with "Transmission Plate" and "Control Module" with "New CVT" in your post, my story reads very similarly. Kinda makes...

Re: Anyone have any tech info on Recal?

Here is a link to my post about the CVT experience. I'm not sure exactly what failed--at first they thought it was a transmission plate, but they weren't happy with the results after replacing it so...

Re: Anyone have any tech info on Recal?

That's pretty much how my HCHII works under normal conditions. However, I'm convinced that the battery packs of certain HCHIIs weren't balanced properly (supplier problems, lack of quailty controls,...

Re: Anyone have any tech info on Recal?

Yeah, I'm of the school of thought that you don't buy insurance (warranties) against losses you can afford to absorb, but my wife likes the piece of mind from an extended warranty so she won out when...

Re: Anyone have any tech info on Recal?

The transmission died at ~35,300 miles... It's the first time I've ever had a car leave me stranded in the middle of nowhere. The new transmission seems to be working well though, and I have the...

Re: Anyone have any tech info on Recal?

The software upgrades will probably not fix the problem. I have TSB-0958 applied to my car which did help a lot over the winter. I suspect that this software lowers the "panic threshold" where a...

Re: ima battery replacement

That is normal operation if it goes down to 3 or 4 bars. The problem we're discussing here is when it drops to 1 bar from 5 to 7 bars in less than 15 seconds--what is know as a battery...

Re: Mercury Brand Ending this Fall

Typically the resale value is negatively effected--especially because the dealers usually clearance out the last cars of the model year.

I'm kinda bummed to see Mercury go away (my first car...

Re: IMA Discharging issues-Help

Heat does some funny things to the batteries. 105 degrees of outside temp means probably north of 140 degrees inside your car. Did you notice that your state of charge was higher (say 5 bars) and...

Update #3

I picked the car up on Friday afternoon from the dealer in Denver and left it in the Walmart parking lot next door for the weekend as we drove the MMH up to Rocky Mountain NP. On the...

Re: New HCH owner here, What to expect ?

Hi Joe,

Driving 75mph is going to have an impact on your fuel economy. If you want to hit the high mileage numbers, keep it at 60mph. Then again, at 75mph, you're still going to be getting...
