Re: Big topic: MUSIC when driving?

Glad to have a fellow trekker aboard. I watched ST:TOS (Star Trek: The Original Series) when it first hit the TV. And somehow, like the old St. Pauli beer ad said, "You never forget your first...

Re: Big topic: MUSIC when driving?

A year and a half later, I did replace the Wagner Overtures with Tom Lehrer, and additionally replaced Camelot with a Peter, Paul, and Mary album.

I do not think Detroit has a good NPR station...

Re: what are gas prices at for you?

And where are you located? Here in Motown, I saw a post this morning for $2.869/gal.

Re: Michigan Roll Call

Hi all,

I saw a new Insight in the parking lot the other day. In the past I have seen a face-lifted FEH or two, a Prius, and a SVH (Saturn Vue Hybrid).

This site and this thread seems to have...

Re: An Important Message from the Founder of GreenHybrid

Jason,

Thanks for everything and good fortune for you into the future.

It's been a good ride with you. You know you will have done your job when we continue to have a good ride without you.

Re: Interested in a Detroit area get together?

ddderek - What it will take to get something going is for someone to say, "Hey, let's meet regularly at <place> at <time>." Sometimes only one person will show up, but keep at it and it might lead...

Re: Interested in a Detroit area get together?

Thanks, jay. It was ddderek who revived this thread and specified FEH. I think the posting refered to the "Escape Hybrid Experience" at Ford in 2005 - something perhaps some of us would like to...

Re: Interested in a Detroit area get together?

We are still trying to get a critical mass. I suspect that the thing to do is to select a meeting place for a regular get-together. Those who are free at the time each week could show up. If only...

Re: Prediction: Every Car Will Be Hybrid in 2020

I don't think that the headline is in accord with the article. The headline says that all cars will be hybrids by 2020. The article says that Toyota will have hybrid powertrains available for all...

Re: Ford Escape Hybrid Fuel Economy Experience

The first thirteen posts to this thread are a sequence leading up to the Escape Hybrid Experience. Specific reactions are posted on a different thread here, and on different sites (such as in the...

Re: Ford Escape Hybrid Fuel Economy Experience

I think it would be an excellent idea for Ford - and the other manufacturers as well - to do the "Dearborn Experience" kind of thing often. Especially for hybrids and alternatively powered vehicles....

Re: Ford Escape Hybrid Fuel Economy Experience

I know of no "new event" Ford is planning, unless ddderek is successful in getting some Ford people to a powwow. I do think that the "Dearborn Experience" was one thing which separated Ford from the...

Re: Interested in a Detroit area get together?

Hi Rich,

Yeah, I've been kinda out of it for while. It's good to hear from you.

I think ddderek wants an "Escape Hybrid Experience" thingy. My advice would be to try to schedule it at an...

Re: Ford Escape Hybrid Fuel Economy Experience

I drove a '89 Ranger before my '05 FEH and I got better than EPA mileage out of it. There is a technique to driving any vehicle efficiently.

But there are also some techniques which uniquely...

Re: Interested in a Detroit area get together?

There have been several attempts to get some kind of club going in Southeastern Michigan. You might check the general topics near the bottom for regional efforts, including the thread "Michigan Roll...

Re: Ford Escape Hybrid Fuel Economy Experience

ddderek - Shortly after the "Dearborn experience," Mary Ann Wright (who was in charge of the FEH and MMH programs) left for another position. The proposed series of regional meetings never occurred....

Re: Michigan Roll Call

Hi Sledge,

Ja, all is okay. The summer got a mite squirmy for a while.

Hope all is well with you and the other SemiH's (SouthEast MIchigan Hybriders).

Re: A good NY Times article to get mad at

While the tone of the article is somewhat that of hybrid-bashing, the points tend to be valid. Except the article violates some of its own points, such as making passing mention of comparing apples...

Re: The Hybrid Payoff (Road & Track article)

It has been my observation that social change goes through three stages:

1) the pariah phase where social outsiders point to problems and perhaps even to where their solutions lie. They are, of...

I also hope you avoid the Independence Day weekend - other obligations you know.

Are there roads or two-tracks suitable for those of us without four wheel drive?

Woodward & 13-mile sounds good....

Vanity Plate on a Hummer . . .

Perhaps this should go with the "smug alert" or some other topic, but I thought it was interesting in its own right. It does indicate how some drivers of land barges react to potshots.

I pulled...
