Re: Q: For the high MPG HCH-II's

I also basically just let the car do the work, and I'm averaging almost 52 mpg (lifetime with 7k+ miles). My daily commute is 28 miles each direction, about 90% freeway. I try to stay on cruise...

Re: EV (electric-only) mode finally spotted in 06 HCH!

It's *very* subtle, but if I am rolling through a parking lot to a space, it can sometimes make the difference between getting all the way there in EV mode or needing to turn the ICE back on. I...

Re: EV (electric-only) mode finally spotted in 06 HCH!

The tach won't change as you go in and out of EV mode since the DC motor is mated to the crankshaft. The only thing that affects the RPM is your speed and the CVT gear ratio.

Re: EV (electric-only) mode finally spotted in 06 HCH!

yeah, since I wrote that I have gotten better at it. Now I can sustain 5 bars on a smooth road (no foot jostling) and a full battery charge.

Re: hch ii engine:everything you ever wanted to know...

The use of the word 'adds' is a bit misleading because the 06 HCH does not have 3-cylinder idling.

The 05 and earlier HCH has 2 cam modes:

1- normal
2- 3-cylinder idle

The 06 HCH has 3...

Re: AM radio sounds terrible

Better yet, switch to Sirius sattelite radio. 3 channels of NPR! That's how I live without AM or FM now :)

Re: AM radio sounds terrible

It's bad, even for AM. I agree that it sounds flattened, with the bass turned up too far. The AM in my 99 Accord sounds significantly better.

Re: HCH2 Second Tank - Another Dissapointment

Break in should help a lot. My first two tanks were 49, my most recent tank (4000 miles later) is 54.3.

Re: How much did you Pay?

MSRP in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area. I waited 2 weeks. I requested email quotes from 40 dealers in a 100 mile radius to find the few that were dealing for MSRP. Another dealer just 18...

Re: Ivory interior good or bad

Unless you are rough on the interior (i.e., spill things a lot), the ivory fabric should hold up well. I have ivory in my 1999 Accord, and it still looks great 7 years later (only detailed once). I...

Re: EV (electric-only) mode finally spotted in 06 HCH!

5 bars is tough. I can usually only do 5 for short intervals, and it takes a very steady foot and a smooth road (one little bump can be enough to jostle my foot and cause me to lose the EV mode). ...

Re: How to for HCH High Fuel Ecomomy?

There are many variables involved, so it really depends on the situation. The bottom line is that you want to spend more time coasting or cruising at a constant speed than you do accelerating. ...

Re: Navi automatic dimming doesn't work

If the panel brightness (the +/- buttons right next to the SEL/RESET buttons to the left of the steering wheel) is turned up all the way, the NAVI will not go into 'night' mode. The current...

Re: 06' Civic gets 90mpg???

That's correct. 63 MPH is when the flux capacitor engages and initiates the time travel sequence. :P

Re: I made a bid on ebay for a civic hybrid.

Re: "Check Fuel Cap" message in 06 HCH

Thanks for the info everyone. I usually try to go at least three clicks, but I don't remember if i actually did that this time. As ElanC pointed out, the manual states that you can clear/reset the...

Re: "Check Fuel Cap" message in 06 HCH

I remembered that part about re-opening and closing until the click, but I guess I missed the part about pressing and holding SEL/RESET to clear it. Mine eventually cleared on its own, I guess it...

Re: "Check Fuel Cap" message in 06 HCH

i don't think so, and the tank is 1/2 full, so it's been a while since the cap was off.

"Check Fuel Cap" message in 06 HCH

Re: Anyone in CA received their HOV lane stickers?

Yes, I also drive 65 in the carpool lane for the same reason. I only use the carpool lane when the traffic in the other lanes gets bottlenecked, which is in about 5 places on my commute. I get...

Re: HCH2 Nav "auto" day/night mode

No, mine works fine in auto mode. Maybe you have a loose connection somewhere that prevents the NAV from knowing the lights are on?

Re: Pulse and Glide shouldn't work vs. Cruise control

That's dissapointing. I disagree with the notion that the inexperienced (like me) should refrain from posting opinions, experiences, or even speculation. It's up to the reader to judge the worth of...
