Re: The 2011 Chevy Volt!

Disagree. GM has produced approximately 49,000 Volts over three model years, including exports. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Volt) Toyota Prius production peaked on ONE MODEL YEAR with...

Re: The Hybrid Myth

So, you say your car is a 100,000 mile "throw-away" car, yet New York taxi cab fleets have been successfully using Escape hybrids, with them coming out of taxi fleets with 300,000+ miles on them and...

Re: Recharge my ac

Wow, 8,000 miles; I'm impressed. Do you plan to keep a brief log (written or electronic) on the mileage you experience? I would like to hear what you got (mountains, average 60 MPH, 100% A/C usage,...

Re: Recharge my ac

Chris,

Here's a couple of things to keep in mind. First, did the A/C system stop cooling gradually over several weeks or months, or did it just stop working virtually over night? If it stopped...

Re: Best Year of the Ford Escape Hybrid???

I have to disagree, Gary. The '10-12 FEH with electric A/C compressor is the only logical choice for anyone living in the south. Running A/C in earlier models=having the gas engine running, which...

Re: When to Replace Tires With Big Road Trip Planned

Replace 'em. Your 2008 could have been made as early as August 2007, which makes those tires as much as 5 years old. With the record heat, highway conditions and a fully loaded vehicle, this is NO...

Re: Finding Keyless Entry Combination

Usually, any Ford dealer can run the VIN and get the lock code. I would find a different dealer, and go in for something routine, like an oil change or one of their advertised specials. While in...

Re: No 2012 FEH? :( Anyone have hard info on CMax?

They did make a 2012 FEH, but they are hard to find. If you do a national search on some of the major car search web sites, you might still find a new or very low mileage 2012 out there. Good luck!

Re: I'm BACK in the hybrid world with a '10 Escape Limited Hybrid--and LOVE IT!

Yep, that is similar to mine; a Limited with autopark, the 501A package and side step bars.

With FEHs being used as New York taxis, and seeing them selling with 300,000 miles on them (and still...

Re: good feh mech. in N. Alabama

You might have to go to a Ford dealer in a larger city. Also, try finding a dealer that has one or more used hybrids in stock. If they sold them new and have done all of the service work, they...

I'm BACK in the hybrid world with a '10 Escape Limited Hybrid--and LOVE IT!

OK, so I had a Camry hybrid, but had neck surgery and the car was no longer comfortable (I'm 6'2"). So, got a non-hybrid '10 Escape from the local Toyota dealer, who really gave me a great price on...

Re: Engine failure: Replace or rebuild

See if you can find a NAPA shop in your area. They will use an LKQ engine (please see earlier post) and give a 12 month, 12,000 warranty that is good at any NAPA shop. Good luck!

Re: 1700 miles freeway report

My wife and I did a trip from San Antonio to Branson last year. In Texas, we averaged about 32-33 MPG, mostly freeway. Once out of Texas and I could find NON-ETHANOL gas in Oklahoma, mileage went...

Re: Carbon Buildup/Cylinder Misfire

JoJo,

Glad you found a competent dealer! Sadly, if you had been ripped off for the $372 and yet had a bad cylinder head, the cleaning would NOT have fixed the problem.

Replacing a cylinder...

Re: hybrid enhancer?

In a lot of situations, the computers in modern cars can't handle a spike in voltage. Since most capacitors provide a sudden "hit" of voltage, the engineers who design these cars have either...

Re: The Toyota Prius is bad for the environment

Will,

You seem to want an arguement and I'm not going to give you one.

The fact that NO ONE is jumping on the "Prius is Bad" bandwagon is evidence enough.

Have a good day.

Re: Line between gas-electric hybrid and small internal-combustion car starting to bl

As long as there are waaaaaaay too many redlights in virutually every city in the nation, and those lights are very poorly coordinated, if at all, hybrids will ultimately win out.

Why? A hybrid...

You are kidding, right? You risk unsafe driving due to fogged windows, and don't correct it because it might use a little gas? WOW!

Re: Why does my windshield fogs up easily?

Keep an eye on the level in the coolant bottle under the hood. When cold, the level should be right at the mark on the bottle marked 'cold.' When hot, it should be right at the hot mark.

If it...
