Re: An inspiration to us all. 85.9mpg!

Poperon,

I have never heard of that chip. It is very possible to get 100+ mpg in a stock prius. Ken1784 might be able to shed some light on the number of people that have done that in the US.

Re: An inspiration to us all. 85.9mpg!

Thanks, Tideland Prius, but in all seriousness; no, 85.9 mpg is not that impressive. All it proves is I have carefully picked roads with 25-35 mph speed limits, I have the patience and time to drive...

Way to go Marsha. Only 100? Doesn't sno779 average 100 mpg? :shade:

I just think JimboK is getting too competitive for my tastes. :shade:

Re: Working towards 1000 miles on this tank

Bob,

I don't think I will be traveling to the eastern shore anytime soon; It is amazing to me that I haven't pumped gas for almost a month!

I am only at 692 miles at 84.9 miles. I just...

Re: Working towards 1000 miles on this tank

Diamondlarry,

I wasn't asking for credit. :D I was just curious to see if I had helped you. I have seen what you can do with a Saturn and if I am correct, you are on your first tank with the...

Re: Working towards 1000 miles on this tank

Diamondlarry,

Did you get your P&G speeds from my suggestions? Did you refine what I said? Any suggestions for me?

There is a neighborhood that has newly paved roads and little traffic that...

Re: Working towards 1000 miles on this tank

Thanks. Priority. They gave me $1000 less than MSRP when $500 below was considered good.

Re: Working towards 1000 miles on this tank

dcoyne78,

I have thought about getting a SGII, but I am simply trying the best I can with before and after mpg readings and doing the math to figure out segment mpgs.

I don't think it is...

Re: Working towards 1000 miles on this tank

Bob,

I started cold today and drove 62.4 miles for a before / after calculated 103.3 mpg for that segment. I know that I cannot maintain that for another 540 miles, but if I could, I would end...

Working towards 1000 miles on this tank

I am working towards 1000 miles on a tank of gas in my 2006 Toyota Prius. I have six pips left. I just thought I would throw in a picture of the progress:

Re: How to achieve 100 MPG

I would certainly love to just set the cruise control and go to work. I would be fine with it set to 25 mph. However, on my route to work, the speed limits are between 25 and 45 mph. I seem to do the...

Re: How to achieve 100 MPG

In layman's terms, the point is to slow down. Driving slowly and accelerating slowly (without blocking traffic) is a great way for the individual to anticipate traffic, traffic signals, and to be...

Re: What did you pay for your Prius?

As an end of year special, my wife's coworker talked the local dealer down to $2500 less than MSRP for a loaded (minus leather) 2007 Prius, non touring.

Re: BIG discrepancy between tank and MFD - which should I post?

SoopahMan,

80 mpg over 40 miles on the highway; that is great. Don't worry about each tank. I know that it sucks to see a high number on the MFD to only fill up and see your calculated value...

Re: Your best tank?

IndyDoug,

Actually the morning temps were in the mid 40's with afternoon temps in the mid to lower 50's. There were three days in the 70s when I drove this month. I had one segment at 69 mpg when...

Re: BIG discrepancy between tank and MFD - which should I post?

SoophahMan,

I use the gallons I pump for the database as that is what I pay for gas. I keep track of the MFD values for comparison. Since my car is new and I was shortfilled by the dealer on my...

The last threads between SoopahMan and myself are dealing with acceleration rates and techniques at speeds less than 42 mph. Steady state cruising on the freeway at 60-70 mph is an...

Re: Best way to accellerate for ICE efficiency?

SoopahMan,

I generally P&G between 20 to 35 mph if nobody is around and between 35 to 40 mph if I am in traffic with people behind me. The pulse and glide technique will generally work for any...
