Re: cargo liner

I have one as well for a 2009 FE non-Hybrid but I do see what you mean. That's kind-of a new vehicle item/one time purchase or they may have sold the run out. Other items are ones that might wear...

Re: Intermittent 12V Power Loss

Back some time ago, I watched a whole series on lead acid batteries on "How it's Made". Most all lead used to manufacture batteries these days is from recycled lead and little from mined ore. It...

Re: 4WD Lockup/Disable

You probably just couldn't the load on it that happens under its real use. Was there backlash between the gears?

I've seen a bearing lock up and shear dowel pins but felt smooth as silk when...

Re: 2005 FEH problems: P0455, radiator fans won't shut off, sulfur smell, high-revvi

Don't feel bad many have been fooled by Ford's advertisement of the 4WD system that's why I refer to it as Ford UnInintelligent Four Wheel Drive System. It's engaged every time you leave from a dead...

Re: How to fill transmission fluid ?

Were you able to change the fluid yet? I found this thread: https://www.greenhybrid.com/forums/f26/changed-my-ptu-fluid-14560/

Re: Low SOC after sitting a few days

The BMS in 2012 wasn't that complex, no RESET was needed.

Re: 09 FEH sit for about a year, can't jump star

Never heard of the 0.3C for five hours before.

Even if that's true if the pack is never fully charged under normal use that doesn't mean that the Ford charger doesn't charge the pack fully...

Re: 09 FEH sit for about a year, can't jump star

Hmm, seems you are the one that like questions! Are you from the old bunch that hung out here that started the poll to ban user Willard West because he didn't agree with the old bunch?

No, I'm...

Re: 09 FEH sit for about a year, can't jump star

I assume you used a timed charge(0.1C for 16 hours) as the power supply doesn't have a Ni-MH charging algorithm or -dV?

Re: 09 FEH sit for about a year, can't jump star

If Ford has a special charger for the HV battery pack, how were you able to charge it yourself?

Re: Can't find the jump start button...

It doesn't appear in the 2009 manual so maybe they neglected to remove it from the 2008 manual.

Re: If both hybrid and regular batteries are dead, jump start won't work?

They all have to have that switch as it's part of the system.

Re: 4WD Lockup/Disable

The case would have to get over 400F to boil heavy gear lube. There once was a guy((wwest(Willard West)) in this forum that always said that the transfer case was the weak link in the Ford design.

Re: 4WD Lockup/Disable

Gearing can wear slowly without making much noise till nothing meshes or it can go boom from sudden stress applied.

I'm a retired industrial mechanic from the auto industry(Ford) and I've seen it...

The transfer case/PTU is blown as I mentioned before.

Re: 4WD Lockup/Disable

They actually refer to it as solenoid in the book which it isn't because it's just like your A/C clutch coil. Your guess is a good as mine on how they do it.

What your describing is exactly how a...

Re: 4WD Lockup/Disable

If the clutch is in the rear end and the engine is OFF, why would rotating the wheels turn the drive shaft?

Your also mentioned a "sensor". The Ford manuals don't show any sensor and there is...

Re: 4WD Lockup/Disable

It won't buck or make noise because the transfer is blown therefore no binding. The drive shaft isn't being driven.

Re: 4WD Lockup/Disable

No, the drive shaft shouldn't rotate at all, your driving and driven clutch plates are fused together. The procedure if one gets a Full Lock Condition is to pull over till it cools down and the...

Re: 4WD Lockup/Disable

I'm the original owner and never seen high water.

Used to go to our service pack department where they had quarts of rear end lube to use in machine gear boxes. Machines ran 24/7 for over ten...

Re: 4WD Lockup/Disable

Hmm, didn't think that there were that many with problems. My own posts as well! Since I only have less than 15K on my 2009, I doubt that I will have to worry.

One thing mentioned in the...

This is a Ford forum not Saab!

Most failed components??? A few transfer cases/PTU or whatever you want to call it but read ends? If the OP's is bad, it might be the second that I've read about...

Re: 4WD Lockup/Disable

Apples to Oranges.

No surprises from this forum that thinks inflating tires to 60psi when they marked 45psi, exceed GVR with loads and exceed towing limits are just fine.

Re: 4WD Lockup/Disable

Read your "Ford Scheduled Maintenance Guide" pertaining to the rear axle lube.
