Re: Short light life?

Check the voltage at the 12 volt battery with the engine running. voltage over 14.4 can cause premature light bulb failure. Also driving down VERY bumpy roads with the lights on can also cause this....

Re: Blend Door Actuator - Again

Its not that hard to change out this motor. Warranty time from Ford is 1.1 hrs but this does not include diagnosis or reflash. All that you have to do is remove the plastic ducting where the little...

Re: Water Pump Dead - Drives Better

this little pump does not effect the engine as it only circulates the coolant through the heater when the main mechanical pump is not turning. Even the MECS pump only has a DTC for the relay circuit,...

Re: MAF sensor dies and dealer says caused by cheap air filter!

Any quality air filter will be fine. But all filters are NOT the same. Jiggly lube most likely uses the lowest cost filter. Motorcraft probably does not make their filters. Wix is a major supplier...

Re: 06 ford escape hybrid, bad brakes

its not that its dangerous, it will push the pistons OUT of the caliper creating a NIGHTMARE for the DIYer. The sound you here when you first unlock the car or when you open the door, that buzz is...

Re: Water Pump Dead - Drives Better

If I remember the little pump does not run unless the vent system is turned on --- so really cant hurt or cause emission issue. also the electronics doesnt know if the motor is actually running....

Re: THE Air and Oil Filter Thread

The NAPA part number for the cabin air filter for 07 and up is 9466 and is less than $25, my warehouse does not stock it, but I will see if I can get it.

Re: "Stop Safely Now"

I don't think the oil is the problem but it might become a problem. Did you use synthetic oil or conventional oil? The heaver oil will not flow quickly on start up. These engines start and stop more...

Re: Need Help! No oil filter

First engine oil filters DO NOT filter 100% of the pressurized oil. The engine take a SMALL portion and runs it through the filter, so over time all of the oil passes through the filter.

Secondly...

Re: Rattles - fixed one, need help on 2nd

check the shock bushings and the sway bar bushings. Doubt its the wheel bearings they make a howling noise above 20 mph before you will hear any low speed noise.

Re: "Recall" on 2005 - 2007 FEH and 2006 - 2007 MMH

The only AC pump I can think of is the AC compressor, if so it is not technically part of the Hybrid system, but it is used to cool the battery. Does your AC work? $1100 is not that high for a new...

Re: Car won't start in weather > 90 degrees

Check or replace the relays, intermittent relays can fail at higher temps

Re: "Stop Safely Now"

GaryG, that might be a prudent check but I thought there would be a MECS overheat code stored if the pump was bad. Also most non professional scan tools dont let you get to the other modules that...

Re: tune-up question

As an experiment I put in a set of +4s in my Escape, did not get any more mpgs but didnt run poor or different. 70k to 90k is a reasonable service interval for these engines.

Re: "Stop Safely Now"

I am not finding a DTC for P1027 in the hybrid manual, are you sure that is the code? What kind of scan tool are you using?

Re: 2006 FEH Wrench/Service Soon

gpsman1 the front door mode actuators in the 05-07 FEHs are old school vacuum motors. Sticking doors can be from low vacuum, binding, bad switch, extreme cold,... etc

Re: FE increase with 100% synthetic oil?

I have not opened up a FEH engine but the manual does not show a windage tray. I doubt a windage tray would do much good as they really are only useful at high rpm with thicker oil.

Re: "Stop Safely Now"

I wish I could cut and paste these TSBs, but the software will not allow this. The TSB actually says to tap on the pump to see if it will come on!

Re: "Stop Safely Now"

TSB 05-04-10 is exactly what you describe. And you are correct the system will over heat setting several codes, then cool down and start. There is no way for the PCM to tell if the MECS pump is...

Re: "Stop Safely Now"

Wow thats serious, when they send out an engineer. My escape just got out of jail for the battery cooling door actuator. When I was looking at the data on my Modus I was stunned at the amount of info...
