Re: 70 mph yields better gas mileage

Yes I agree. I was using CC in the past 500 miles. Now I feather touch the gas pedal and brought my MPG from 46 to 52.

I also noticed that fuel efficiency has a lot to do with the wind factor,...

70 mph yields better gas mileage

Interestingly enough, when I drive 70mph vs. 65mph on the freeway, I get better gas mileage. Most of my freeway driving is mostly flat with a few not-so-steep hills. I don't use cruise control as I...

Re: What if gas goes sky high???

Yeah I truly don't believe you will be seeing For Sale signs on hummers. We are the ones who will be affected most. If we are driving Hybrids it's because 1) We want to save money and 2) Save the...

Re: Insight-II?

Honda now has a water fuel vehicle commercial, has anyone seen it? It's just a commercial, they don't give out any detail on when it is coming out or where it will be released.

EV only mode

Has anyone installed this?

http://www.coastaletech.com/electric_only_mode.htm

Does it void warranty?
Does it reduce battery life?

Doesn't decelerating and braking recharge the battery? I...

Re: Picking up our 2008 Prius today!!

I agree,

I used to use cruise control (which was better than my previous driving method), I got 46MPG combined. Now that I use my foot, I get 53MPG combined. It's a skill that can be attained...

I drive 65MPH and about 100 yards behind large trucks, I get about 54MPG in my new, 2008 Prius.

Re: Picking up our 2008 Prius today!!

Actually I live in the souther california suburb. Mostly flat roads. Using cruise control has helped me, here's what I do:
I accelerate to the speed limit while release the gas pedal, then when I...

Re: Fuel cost vs. Hybrid

Thanks for your comment.

Solar is not to power the vehicle, rather to recharge the batteries.

I would also like to emphasize that solar is an independant source of energy, no price gouging...

Re: Chinese hybrid

Yesterday, a not-so-well-educated friend of mine asked about my 2008 Pirus "Your cars is half hybrid right?"

I didn't know whether to laugh or sigh. So I said, "no it's full hybrid", he then said...

Fuel cost vs. Hybrid

Okay here's a thought. If we all drove Hybrid vehicles, gas prices should drop right? Laws of supply and demand. Of course we would still feel good about using up less gas and helping better preserve...

Re: No Hybrid Tax Credit with AMT

People who bought the Prius because of the tax credit did so because of the incentive. My incentive was the gas savings. I bought a 08 in November 2007. I don't even know if I qualify nor do I care....

Re: Picking up our 2008 Prius today!!

Just bought a 2008 Prius - Package II. I used to own a 2003 BMW M3.
I love the Prius, right now I am getting 47MPG average (16MPG with the M3). I inflated the tires to 40PSI front and back and...
