Re: The Brakes Broke the Bank!

Two questions first:#1 Are 5 problems out of 100,000 a manufacturing defect?#2 Your car is 10 years old, do you expect these things to last forever?

Re: Are you smarter than a ford mechanic?

Sounds exactly like a hot HV battery, cold battery, depleted (low) battery, or otherwise deactivated battery.

Re: Enhancing (hacking) performance of the FEH EV battery?

On the Scan Gauge you need to set up several parameters. Engine size is one.

Fuel type is another.
For Fuel you need to put HYBRID not GAS.

Re: Low SOC after sitting a few days

How are you guys reading your pack SOC?
Are either of you guys using a Scan Gauge brand device?

I had one continuously velcroed to my dash for years. Then my FEH started acting up. The...

Re: MPG drastically reduced when using A/C

Or the A/C is simply making the gas engine run more.

Totally reasonable numbers for stop & go.
Low for primarily highway. Unless you drive 85-90 mph.

Re: Low SOC after sitting a few days

Regarding paracitic loads:

The 330v battery runs everything and recharges the 12v battery any time the vehicle is on or in ACC mode.

With key off or out, everyting SHOULD run from the 12v...

Re: Low SOC after sitting a few days

Dudes:

Ford never wants the battery to fall less than 30%. There IS a relay that opens when the battery hits 30%.

That explains why it flat lines at 30%.

However, 6 years ago I found my...

Re: 2006 FEH will not go into Hybrid mode after 30 minutes... help...?

Bizzaro and others:

If EV mode works when cool (start of the day, first 30 minutes, etc.) and then not, it totally sounds like a too warm battery.

EV is disabled anytime the INTERNAL battery...

Re: Enhancing (hacking) performance of the FEH EV battery?

To both of you guys who recently posted:

Are you running air conditioning or defogger / defroster much? Those two things keep the gas engine going.

Is you car engine (after 10 min of warm up)...

Re: 08 FEH AC and misc

Like I said earlier.... If you have A/C that is a little cool but not cold... Add a can and observe. 99% chance it will be all you need.

As the volume of freon goes down gradually the frequency...

Re: Average distane in EV Mode on a 2006 FEH?

What you said is mostly correct xspirit, but what I said is correct.

Let's say the hybrid escape gets 10 mpg more than the standard V6 Escape.

30% or 3 mpg is gained from having regenerative...

Re: Average distane in EV Mode on a 2006 FEH?

1 mile maintaining 25-30 mph.
0.5 mile starting from a dead stop and getting up to 25-30 mph and keeping it there. This is average. Many people struggle to get "average" results.

Amost double...

Re: Engine block heater install question

There are two components so make sure everyone is clear.

There is a 300-400 watt engine block heater that screws into the engine block to heat the coolent. This should be possible to install in...

Re: 2007 Escape Flex Fuel hybrid

PZEV = "Partial Zero Emission Vehicle" which only means zero evaporative emissions. It means you have an air tight gas cap and no under hood fuel evaporation. That's it. It has nothing to do with...

Re: EV Mode with Defrost On

It is because you live in Indiana. No really! Actually it is because you are in the cold.

If you are below 32 degrees the A/C system which runs from the engine for both cooling and de-fogging...

Re: Emmissions "Not Ready" for test help:

Correct. I used a long time friend- my ScanGauge for this purpose; it will tell you "ready" or "not ready" but not what to do to get it ready.

One other "silly" component is your gas tank must...

Emmissions "Not Ready" for test help:

I learned something very helpful recently.

When you disconnect the 12v battery, or use a scan tool to reset codes, you will get a "not ready" for emissions test signal, which in some states...

Re: Long Term Fuel Trim

Should be 0 with plain gas in normal condtions at sea level. The number should go negative at higher altitudes and go positive with ethanol use.

Should be about 3.5 with 10% ethanol in the gas.

What P.M. to do now

My 2005 FEH is now 11 years old.
The Manufacture date was in December, 2004.

I am now at 189,000 miles.
The MPG is better than ever.
Maybe California has decreased the amount of ethanol,...

Your symptoms are strange.

You would expect the opposite.
With electrical steering off, you only have mechanical steering.

Normally with only mechanical steering your hands do all the work....

I have not noticed this ever.

This car has electric power steering.
Maybe there is a blown...

A few molecules at a time can leak out of the tinyest places. You can spend thouands trying to trouble-shoot or spend $25. Your choice.
