Re: Check Engine + IMA Light

Has anyone replaced the battery themselves? I have seen some highlevel instructions that it is about a one-hour job.
MY battery on my 2004 HCH is faling after 210K Miles. I was going to risk a $500...

'04 Honda Civic Hybrid

My Hybrid has 200,000 miles and the IMA light just went on.
It has been very hot and I thought I may be able to help it along. When it weather cools, the light goes off.

I know my Ford EH has a...

Re: Oil Changes

I do the oil myself. Back in '04 when I took it for its last dealer service, it as $34.95 for partial synthetic 0w20.

I use full synthetic 0w20, about $20 ($4/qt) and a stanard filter ($6). I...

Re: My tire choice--Michelin Destiny (Harmony)

I am on my third set of tires.

When I went in the third time, I need the tires right away, as one tire had developed a problem. I tried the Bridgestone Insprions and they reduced the MPG by 15...

Re: Pre-purchase advice on 2003 HCH?

I have a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid, MT.

My only complaint would be on cosmetic issues. Look for loose gaskets, ie the rubber between the metal and the doors. And rattles.

Be sure to check the...

Re: HCH Hybrid Pricing

I have a 2004 Civic, and I have 115K miles on it. I add this for the warranty information.

I have not had any problems that would have required use of a roadside assistance program (I have AAA,...

Re: $189 for a b1 service???

I stopped going to the dealer when they wanted $350 for the 30K service.
Other than an oil change, it included air filter changes. So I did them myself.

Geesh.

Re: Spark plugs/wires and gas mileage?

I have over 100k miles on my '04 HCH and still haven't changed the plugs. I will do that at 110k miles.

If you are doing a lot of highway driving, I'd bump the tire pressure up a tiny bit, maybe...

Re: MPG dips after every oil change

My manual on my '04 HCH tells me to change the oil every 10k miles. I use 0w20 synthetic (Mobil 1).

The mileage on the first tank is always bad. Why? Because I had to heat up the engine to allow...

Re: HCH owner sues Honda over mileage claims

He must have a lead foot. I average over 54 mpg on my '04 HCH MT.

Re: For all you HCH I drivers with 50+ MPG...

Did you check your air filter? Make sure the air intake is clear (Above the radiator).

Critters like to build nests in there and that would restrict air flow.

Re: Under carriage cowling

I avoid my local dealer if at all possible.

At the very least, I do cost comparisons on-line to be sure I am getting the correct price.

For example, the dealer wanted $1.50 for the crush washer...

Under carriage cowling

I changed the oil on my HCH last weekend and the clips that hold the cowling on are rapidly deteriorating.

Has anyone replaced them? Might you have a part number for them?

Or, has anyone found...

Re: Civic Hybrid Manual Transmission

I have an '04 HCH MT. I have 91k miles, no tranny issues.

I'd get another (non dealer) opinion. Also, you may want to research some of the 7th generation Civic sites for information on the tranny....

Re: We now officially only get 34 MPG

I have never gotten below the EPA recommendations on a car/truck. I use air conditioning. I drive at 65+mph.

Oh well.

Re: Poor Gas Mileage and IMA Problems

That car doesn't sound well at all.

I'd invest in a cheap digital camera (or cell/camera phone) and photograph it each time it occurs. Pull over to the side of the road and the next opportunity,...

Re: EPA to adjust hybrid mileage claims!

Really?

I thought they'd adjust UPWARD.

With little or no special effort, I am getting 54.3 mpg. In the summer close to 60.

My first year, I averaged about 48-50, but since then, I don't...

Re: New owner (maybe)

I have both an '04 HCH and an '05 FEH 4WD.

To be honest, I feel more comfortable in the HCH than the FEH. Though the trunk is fairly small in the HCH, it still holds most of what I need when going...

Re: Though I was #1

I have many more miles (78k) and just a few more tanks (127).

I created a spreadsheet and printed it, put it in a three ring binder, with pockets, and put it in my car. All the receipts for...

Re: Would I be considered crazy for....

I own an '04 HCH MT that has 80k miles on it.

Other than some body damage (lotsa deer here), the car runs great.

I have not had any work done on the brakes -- my commute is mostly highway, and...

Re: Prius Mileage, Theoretical Considerations.

Don't forget, alot of the battery regeneration comes from braking, where on most cars, this is 0 percent efficient.

When I drive my FEH in EV mode, it is ususally after a long down hill run of...

Re: Tire Pressure?

I run the Bridestones and Continentials on my HCH and FEH at sidewall max.

I think that almost everyone will agree that the 26 psi they were at on your car was far too low.

As cooler weather...

Re: Another A-1 Service Question

Is the HCH II oil requirements different than the HCH I? HCH I requires 0w20. I use Mobil1 0w20 and change the oil myself.

Re: Oil Filter

I change my oil and filter every 10k miles.
Since I am under the car, I might as well. It's an extra $4 and 16 oz of oil.
