Re: Water pump replacement "How To"

I installed a GMB 170-2470 in mine a few thousand miles ago. It was only a fraction of the price of the OEM pump. It did require that I purchase a little tube of silicone sealant though.

Re: Water pump replacement

I replaced mine with a GMB last year. It was very inexpensive but required gasket forming compound. It was very easy though.

Re: Buzzing Door Speaker Fix

I took apart the passenger side front door many years ago due to buzzing. I found a plastic sheet covering most of the electronics that I believe was actually the culprit. I think it secured it...

Re: Electronic Power Steering - kaput! and a question

I had the EPS recall work done on my 2007 recently. Being out of warranty wasn't an issue and it shouldn't be.

I was able to drive home and then to the dealership but it was quite a workout.

Re: Water pump replacement "How To"

I replaced my water pump about a year ago with a very inexpensive GMB 170-2470. It came with a paper gasket but the instructions seemed to imply that sealant was still required so I ended up using...

Re: Rusted License Plate Screws

Steve, I did exactly the same thing when I first got my car, put on anti-theft bolts and weatherstripping.

Re: TCH Auxiliary Battery

Back in 2007 I used a cheap float charger from the Sears auto dept. The RC charger is an iCharger 206B which, like many RC chargers, can charge almost any type of rechargeable battery out there. Just...

Re: TCH Auxiliary Battery

I had mine go dead a few times and fail to power up or start the car. I got warning messages that had to be reset the same way the maintenance required messages are dismissed.

When the car was...

Re: Completely DEAD

I don't understand it either but my 12V battery kept dying until I left the Garmin mount unplugged.

Re: Completely DEAD

I traced my problem back to the Garmin Nuvi GPS mount plugged into the cigarette lighter.

Re: Completely DEAD

The battery may have deteriorated if it was left in a discharged state for too long. It may still work after being recharged but with diminished capacity.

Re: Driving in "b" mode

I used it on long descents in Colorado, Utah, and the Sierra Nevadas. It minimizes having to use the foot brake though at times its steep enough that I have to brake a little. Other than that, I...

Re: Cold and mpg

Did you do the oil change yourself? Have you allowed anyone but yourself to service the vehicle?

European fuel efficiency also benefits from different testing standards and Imperial gallons. A lot...

Re: Maintenance light?

You should be able to reset it yourself. A search should reveal the procedure.

Re: TCH road noise

My 2007 is very quiet and it's not just me--everyone who rides in it has to comment.

Perhaps yours was defective. For example, some TCHs have had wind noise from poor door alignment.

Re: Have you towed a Uhaul trailer?

A bit off topic but Penske is a lot better than U-Haul.

Re: Grrr!! Someone tried to break into my car yesterday...

They probably wanted to steal something or anything inside the car. Driving around with a broken window is asking to be pulled over and I doubt they'd put forth the effort to completely remove all...

Re: Where'd the U/A Problem Go?

Maybe the people who had trouble distinguishing between the gas and brake pedals were victims of natural selection.

Re: Did my bottom front grill fall off or did someone steal it?

Are we talking about the black plastic thing with numerous horizontal slats?

I've taken the bumper off a few times but never paid attention to it. I wonder if it can be removed without popping the...

Re: Some good news for a change.

If you need better winter traction, get snow tires. I don't think you could do much to LRR tires to improve their performance in snow.

I have Bridgestone Turanzas and Blizzak snow tires. The snow...

Re: TCH alignment: anyone change specs?

My previous car, also a Camry, seemed to develop a severe pull to the left. I had it aligned at various dealers and even a specialty alignment shop and it was in spec. I could change lanes just by...

Re: Engine oil

Ask him for proof that 5W-40 is best for your country. Most likely, he's just selling what he has and not what Toyota recommends.

Re: Brake Throttle Override

How did the mat get loose from the retaining clip? I tried to remove mine for cleaning but gave up because it was too difficult.

Re: Mileage

The worst I ever got was around 32 mpg and that was during a blizzard; on a short all-uphill drive; with snow tires, very cold temperatures, and no block heater.

Check the obvious things first:...

Re: TCH 07 Floormat refund? recall means what?

I got a recall letter a long time ago. The mats don't seem to be the problem as long as you don't stack layer upon layer of them in the footwell. They're secured quite well. I have no intention of...
