Re: Explaining my epiphany (or why I'm not anti-hypermiler).

Actually one of the things that make the hybrid version of the Civic different from the regular version is aerodynamic improvements including a huge smooth plastic shield on the underside of the...

Explaining my epiphany (or why I'm not anti-hypermiler).

Back a while ago I quit keeping track of my mileage and quit being competitive about hypermileing. At the time I mentioned that this would actually save gas but no one bothered to ask how or why gas...

Re: Working towards 1000 miles on this tank

Good luck with your endeavor! Do you have another vehicle you can drive if the weather gets crappy? Rain or cold will kill your tank.

I got lucky with a long hot dry spell and made it 1005 miles...

Re: Whats better?

It sounds like both options are similar in gas used so you should use the option you prefer. If you like to save time use the expressway. If you like the road less traveled use the rural highway......

Re: Has my ABS Failed?

All my vehicles have some form of ABS and as near as I remember they all have an indication on the dash when they activate and they all pulse or grind the brake pedal. The tires do cherp just as you...

Re: HCH 2004 Original Stereo

I'm about to replace the stock CD/radio with a Panasonic MP3 player. PM me if you want the old radio. There is a security feature that locks the radio out if it loses power BTW.....

Re: My MPG does not seem great -- 39.7 lifetime?

Traditional wisdom has it that the HCH has the advantage over the Prius on the highway but you couldn't prove that by me. My gen one MT HCH can get over 80 mpg if hypermiled to the max in hot...

Re: What do you believe?

My honesty standards are somewhat high. I'd be a crummy witness in court because I know NOTHING for 100% certainty. I believe the world and everything on it exists but I don't know for certain that...

Re: "Hypermiler" - Negative perceptions?

Abowles

I imagine that the flow of traffic is something like a bell curve with most people driving within say 10-15 mph of one another. Driving anywhere within that band of people will most...

Re: What do you believe?

Wow! I just noticed that some people picked option 4. What do you all call your belief? If you would rather not get into it in public please PM me.

Re: What do you believe?

Dear Loud

Of course nobody knows for sure what is up in the grand scheme of things. If the poll asked what do you know for sure and it included your option 5 then everybody answering honestly...

Re: What do you believe?

Alan I'm sorry we are having trouble with certain words. I had no idea what a deist was so I looked it up on Wiki and they said:

"# Human beings have souls that survive death; that is, there is...

Re: What do you believe?

The idea of a creator and an afterlife seem to be linked in most peoples minds. I kinda figured the poll would turn out the way it has with most folks believing in both and with another large group...

Re: What do you believe?

I looked up the meaning of the words you used and they don't mean the same thing as what is in the poll. The afterlife thing is critical to the poll BTW. Theists and diests each belive in both a...

Re: The big picture

Thanks Carl.

As I kinda mentioned before this poll is in response to those who have ripped on our unoffical GM rep and the Silverado Hybrid. I was hoping that someone would do the math (Thanks...

Re: What do you believe?

I'm not sure that your words mean the same thing as the poll options. Isn't an agnostic someone who is not sure about things? That is not the same as any of the poll options is it? I honestly...

Re: The big picture

DF you should not presume to know what I'm thinking or what I'm getting at. The reason I started this poll has roots in somthing our unofficial GM rep was trying to get at. He was of course 100%...

What do you believe?

I've got some ideas about the outcome of this poll that I'll comment on after it goes on for a while. Keep in mind that this is a sensitive subject so please be respectful of others opinions.

Re: Good Altima Hybrid Review

Nissan uses several types of CVT and I've never been sure of which type gets used in which car. The info I've seen from Nissan is sketchy. Where did you find your info?

Re: "Hypermiler" - Negative perceptions?

Good point DF

I do still FAS but only on downhills steep enough that you keep your speed up. My mileage has of course plunged and if I was still keeping track of such things I might be ready to...

The big picture

Which would save more gas?

1) If every hybrid driver hypermiled their hybrid so that all hybrids improved their efficiency an average of 15% across the board. So the Prius for example would go...

Re: "Hypermiler" - Negative perceptions?

Thanks Kenny/tiger

This is all kinda funny because years ago someone suggested that hypermiling was a bad thing for the overall hybrid image. It has been too long to remember the who/where/when...

I've changed driving styles many times over the years. I started out driving very fast and this was stressful because I tended not to allow any extra time for any delays. It was...

Re: hybrid vs. non hybrid

A Hybrid is more expensive and if cost is your only motivation you should not get a hybrid (based on cost alone) unless you think gas prices are going way up or unless you drive a lot. If cost is...
