Leaky vacuum hose check valve, TSB-22353
I replaced a leaky brake booster to vacuum pump vacuum hose (9C482) on one
of my three FEH 2012s/2011. The fault presented randomly with an illuminated
red dash brake light, and displayed text: "Check Brake System". The engine
would then run continuously (no battery hybrid mode) until restarted.
FORSCAN found two DTCs,
P1A1B - Brake System Control Module - Forced Engine Running
C1015 - Vacuum Supply.
The fault is documented in NHTSA ID Number: 10044540 and Ford's TSB-22353
(https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...44540-1228.pdf). The TSB applies to
2010-2012 Escape/Mariner hybrids.
Some 2010-2012 Fusion, Milan, and MKZ hybrids may have a similar leaky
vacuum hose check valve, NHTSA ID Number: 10042506, Ford's TSB-11-11-10.
Cost of the repair at my local Ford dealer was $432.

Re: Leaky vacuum hose check valve, TSB-22353
Thanks for the tip. The hose is cheap and should be easy to change. I wonder what ran the cost up that high?
The vacuum check valves are cheap, might as well change that too. The Dorman 80189 and 80190 shows to fit 2008-2012 (may fit earlier, I didn't check). Under $3.00, and changing it is very easy.
