Despite bad times, hybrids sell well

Quote:
While the auto industry as a whole has struggled, Honda and Toyota have been experiencing new international success, thanks to their new 2010 Insight and Prius hybrid vehicles. With a healthy profit margin of $3,100 per vehicle, these lean, clean, green small cars are selling out and acting as a bailout for their respective companies, while other models and competitors languish.

In Japan, Honda's Insight already became the first hybrid vehicle to top overall sales charts. Now Toyota's Prius has a success story of its own on its hands.

Don't want to copy whole article, but it seems despite bad economy, hybrids are in demand, even with gas prices still at very reasonable levels albeit going up little by little. Of course assuming the economy will recover somehow in the future, the demand for oil should increase pushing oil prices higher and probably increasing hybrid demand even more? This should keep TCH depreciation low, possibly good news if you plan to sell it?
BTW, isn't TCH due for full update soon, possibly incorporating latest innovations, as found in 2010 Prius?

The next update (if Toyota follows its usual pattern) will be the generation 7 Camry. Typically Toyota will run 3 years of the original design (generation 6 for 07, 08 and 09) then two years of the mid design (generation 6.5 for 10 and 11). This should let the generation 7 Camry debut for the 2012 model year.
