Maybe rburt07 forgot to mention coasting in neutral like on a highway with a long downhill if the traction battery is charged up. I used the coasting method a lot on my older cars along with pumped up tires and advanced timing. Forgot to mention those old gas powered cars got decent mpg by driving them at 48 miles per hour. I used Ethyl gas back then, didn't cost much more back when gas was dirt cheap.
