Re: New Windshield--$1200+!!!
All of you need to look at the comprehensive part of your policy. It typically doesn't cost that much extra for "0" or $100 deductible and it doesn't normally count against you as do accidents turned in on your collision insurance.

FWIW, i had to have a windshield replaced in an 2002 PT Cruiser (in 2002) and the cost to the ins co was also ~$1200!...
Glad that we have no deductible glass coverage in AZ!

Re: New Windshield--$1200+!!! - are you sure?!?
My mag grey TCH has a 14"+ crack in the windshield. I did a quote online at safelite.com and it quoted $1100, but did not ask if I have a hybrid or not, only if I have autodim mirror. I called a local (very reputable) window shop and they have quoted $500 and indicated this is indeed the different hybrid windshield.
Can someone who has had theirs replaced tell me what the part number was? My Toyota dealer gave me 5610133680 while the local shop gave me part number 2628.

Re: New Windshield--$1200+!!!
took my 2 month old TCH with 2500 miles on it out for a week long trip.
first day took a small rock hit at lower left corner of windscreen - just left of where most states put the inspection sticker.
just a rock flicked up by a truck pickup truck ahead accelerating. don't think we were doing more than 45mph at the time.
miniscule chip, which over the next few days progressed to a crack up and over through the horizon line to the center of the windscreen.
bummer. just finding out about the $1100 price. really annoying crack, but i may just wait to see if third party parts become available.
