No lower screws for license plate?

Every time I close the trunk I hear the tingy rattle of the license plate holder and it bugs me. Yesterday I decided to screw in the lower two screws of the license plate and noticed there are no holes for them! You can only secure the license plate from the top! This just seems silly to me.

Does this bug anyone else?

No need for extra holes. Just get stick on pads from your local hardware store. The ones used on cabinet doors. They make them in felt, cork, foam, etc.

Only about 2 seconds every time I shut my trunk. (Certainly not enough to drill 2 holes)

hamm3r, I notice on your signature link it simply takes you to a picture of your signature rather than your data base. On the other thread "how to calculate..." we have discussed a method to have the link take you to the database for your specific car. It's pretty cool.

It bugged me. I put some black electrical tape on the bottom underside of the license plate and that stopped the rattling noise. And it can't be seen from behind, so there was no hit on the looks of the car from behind.

My license plate was warped to the point it would not rest flat.

I bought these at a local auto parts store:

They eliminate the warp and cushion the plate above the car finish.

Thanks for the tip. I went out and bought those exact suction cups. Now my trunk has a nice solid sound when it closes, but I don't really like the look of those white plastic pins sticking through the plate. And also, the suction cup came lose once

Given no other option, I may just keep it as is.

Also, maybe I will try to trim the pins and cover them with those chrome caps.
Usually I stick those caps over the screws with a dab of silicone.

What is up with the lack of front license plate bracket?

You have to drill your own holes and everything. I'm not really up for drilling ANYTHING in my brand new car, when my plates come I may bring them to a Toyota dealer.

I hate that, too! I found an accessory plate mounting bracket for the front plate. It's around $17, but had to be special ordered. I pick it up tomorrow. Will post back here.

Some states (like mine) don't require these hideous attachments to the front of your car so I'm glad they don't come standard.

However even in states where they are required it should be a nice bracket and only installed by the dealer when the car is sold. My son just got a Scion that was traded from an Ohio dealer to WV and when we took the plate off there were two holes in the bumper. Pretty ugly

GM and FORD usually provide a nice bracket
