Steering issues on 2008 TCH

My 08 Camry Hvbrid has 140,000 kilometers on it and words perfectly.... most of the time.

I am having intermittent issues with the power steering. On three occasions after sitting overnight the power steering has refused to work and the power steering warning light would be on. On each occasion I hauled it into have it checked out, and in all three times, the issue fixed itself by the time I got into the garage. The only codes they could find was for some sort of connection issue, but nothing they could pinpoint as the exact problem. I have talked to three different senior Toyota service managers, and all have told me that unless the car is misbehaving when I bring it in, it's almost impossible to diagnose.

To add insult to injury, the steering column interlock has frozen twice during this last blast of -20c Arctic weather we got. Suggestions anyone?

Did you get the 12v battery checked?

Far I know you have electric assist power steering. It is not that hard to get to the PS motor connector underneath, unplug it, spray with electric cleaner, lubricate with dielectric grease and plug back in. It's down there close to elements, maybe some condensate collected in it.
Otherwise, 12v concern is valid, but not for PS.
