Tire Wear Problem - See Photo
 

Hi All,

Attached is picture of tire I just took of my 07 Camry. The steel threads are showing and the inside is scalloped! Any idea what would cause this?

you have waaaaaay tooo much positive camber and your tie rod ends are shot.
tire wobbles. maybe it's hub bearing, if it's front tire. check for tie rod end and hub play ASAP.

they also say cupping points towards warn shocks. but it's definitely camber type wear pattern.

honestly, from your pic, i can only guess it's outer edge and have no idea if it's front or rear tire. you don't say. i'd have expected something like this from a rear tire with negative camber, as they normally are on independent rear suspension cars, that was never rotated. if it is rear, there's no tie rod ends, but you have control arms and bushings in them that can go bad, and worn shocks. and what I said before - hub bearings.

Thanks for the suggestions. Tire was on the rear but I do rotate tires. The wear is on the inside edge of the tire. Getting an alignment tomorrow and will have the other items checked.

rear and inside is veyr very typical. but if you rotate tires at least once a year, it should have never gotten to this state.
I am guessing that whoever rotates tires, rotates them back to front or side to side, and they should be cross rotated. otherwise, you are not changing direction of rotation and inside to outside on the rear tires. hence, negative camber wear keeps getting worse and worse.

you still need to check out hub bearings and control arms. that cupping on the edge is not right.
