What kind of prices on 09 TCH?

I had a 07 TCH and got rid of it a while back, I am considering a 09 TCH, but wondering what the market pricing is? the 07 TCH pretty much went for MSRP, what is going on now with 09 and $3.50 gas, are they getting MSRP or can you get a deal on one?

Re: What kind of prices on 09 TCH?

got mine on Mar 1, $200 under dealer invoice. no haggle was necessary, used the Costco program (900 over invoice) to deal with the fleet manager and after I told him that other dealers in the area were offering 3500 under MSRP on 08's he offered me 200 under on any TCH in stock. I'm in North county San Diego. Did not get the 500 factory rebate but this 09 was the only one they had without NAV and I wasn't willing to spend 2000 on that.

So the base price you paid was.....?

(excluding tax, title, and license, which varies from area to area)

Thanks. Yes, about $3K under MSRP is the going rate that I've seen. for '09 TCH

Re: What kind of prices on 09 TCH?

I am shopping for one right now. my question is about prices for 2008 vs 2009. I got a quote from a dealer for an 08 with the color I want. MSRP is $27600. They quoted me $25,400. Considering that this is an 08 and comes with $750 from Toyota (unlike the 09s) this doesn't match what I am reading in this thread.

I also got a quote on an 09, msrp $27,300, for $26800! Nowhere near what you guys are getting.

Re: What kind of prices on 09 TCH?

The key is to do a lot of research on the Internet. Find the invoice prices for each option you are looking for. Go to the deal with a pile of paper and number in mind. When they offer something, do not be afraid to say a number much lower.

On my 2007, MSRP was about $31,400. I purchased it for about $28,100 after all deals and rebates I could find (no including trade). The initially offered $29,500. I said how about $28,500 -- they looked at me with a bewildered look -- walked away and came back with a yes. I then found another $400 college grad rebate.

The total cost was about total invoice. I work a fair deal and try to give them some kind of profit. I usually target about $100 above invoice if I get a hard time from all dealerships. Remember, they do have kickbacks worth a few hundred to over a thousand.

The target for a TCH 2008 should be $4,000 below MSRP and for a TCH 2009, $3,000 below MSRP. (before tax, title, and license).

You should be able to get that no problem. If you want to haggle-waggle and such, you may get lower. Obviously, they will get cheaper as time goes on, but not by a lot - they are still selling in big numbers.

Re: What kind of prices on 09 TCH?

Thanks for that info. I don't really understand how I can get up to $4k off the sticker price when that figure is well below the invoice, at least the invoice according to sites like Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds. They put the car I'm looking at ($27,300 MSRP) invoice at about $24,400, less than 3k off the sticker. I know they have other ways of making money on the transaction, but it just doesn't seem likely they will go so far under invoice, especially when they aren't having any trouble selling these cars.

Another question about this transaction: they don't have the color we want and will have to get it from another dealer. They are saying that it will cost an extra $300 to get that particular vehicle. Is that a common practice?

Re: What kind of prices on 09 TCH?

Since the 09 is, essentially, the same as the 08, the only determining factor (IMHO) is your preference, which no one can help you with.
If you like to keep cars forever, buy the 08, since you'll save a few bucks.
If, OTOH, you typically trade in cars every few years, or you like to 'keep up with the Joneses', get the 09 since you can enjoy bragging rights until everyone catches up with your 09 as well as, ultimately, being able to sell a newer car into the used car market.

Re: What kind of prices on 09 TCH?

It seems to vary. Here in ATL I am looking for a loaded Silvercar, evidently popular and not plentiful, so they only want to knock a few hundred off MSRP.

They are pushing 2009 Hybrid Camry's, They have 2008's, but they are loaded with options. Bought 2009 Camry Hybrid under invoice, paying $22,750, they seem to be willing to deal, in general cars are not selling, with the recession and high cost of everything. The time is now to buy a car, wouldn't wait any longer.:shade:

You need to find another dealer; $3K off MSRP is typical for 2009s, 2008s should be $4K off MSRP.

True, cars are not selling as much, although the hybrid is in higher demand (but not that high - I've had dozens of dealers with plenty of cars.). Still, it's not like two years ago where there was waiting list for months and everything was MSRP for hybrid.

End of month/quarter is a good time to push for a deal as well.

Yes, find another dealer. I did a custom order and got my 07 in March 2007 for 3k less than MSRP.

Most probably wont go too far under invoice without some extra effort on your part. Even if the car sells at invoice, they still make money on dealer kickbacks and holdbacks from Toyota.

When looking at a 2008, you might be able to get more off (4k) if they want to push the 2008s out the door to make room for the 2009s since people not as well educated as us go for the newest thing there and don't haggle.

I have heard anywhere from $0 to $500 to get a car brought from another dealership. If the other dealership is not far, nothing says you cannot go there (bring the deal you have worked up from the current dealership). You could also say something like the following: "If you waive the fee for acquiring the vehicle from the other dealership, you have a deal right now and I will give you a deposit."

Good luck Mark (I assumed this was your name)!

Yes, Mark is the name. Thanks for all the time you've spent answering questions. I've got them coming down about 3K now on the 08 and I don't know if I'm going to push a lot harder. I'm glad to at least have it down that much.

You should be able to get $4K off MSRP for 2008 (there's $1,000 cash back). If you only push for 3K, you are leaving money on the table.

Hi, I am in the market for a Hybrid to reduce my gas bill. I commute 700miles a week and need a high mpg car. I requested a quote from Price Toyoya in New castle DE and the internet manager quoted me $300 over MSRP through e-mail. I saw that a lot of you are getting $3-4k below MSRP. Is there anybody on the East Coast that is discounting Camry Hybrids? I would travel 500miles to pick up the car if I can get the car discounted 3-4K. Thank You

Trick is to be prepared to wait, and to order. If you take one off the lot it is gonna be higher becasue of current demand -- probably 2-3K over MSRP. So many people looking to hybrids right now that even color and interior doesn't matter.

I paid 29,500. Sticker was $32.2K. I got leather heated seats, GPS w/everything, splashguards, body side molding, carpet/trunk mat, window tint, moonroof. Bought off the lot from local small town dealer (previous car totaled)

Re: What kind of prices on 09 TCH?

Greetings!

I will be picking up my '09 TCH tomorrow/Saturday (in Calgary, Alberta). 'B' Package (moonroof, etc. - no Nav., or heated leather seats) with the 5 year, 160,000 km ECP extended warranty (we put alot of kms on our vehicles - highway). With everything the price is just over $35,000 CDN.

Ordered it on May 12th, with anticipated delivery on May 27th (so it's early!). With a family, I have been looking at the Escape Hybrid for awhile, but we have had several high km. Toyotas and a Subaru in the past with no reliability concerns, so it was a natural choice. + the L/100km /mileage was much better on the TCH than the FEH.

The '09 TCH Canadian prices dropped from last year (about $1400). The 'B' (the new base) model is listed at $30,660, before taxes, freight, extended warranties, etc. - no gov't rebates or discounts (dealerships are firm with this price), unfortunately...

Very excited, nonetheless!!!

If you can't get a deal, consider joining COSTCO or SAM'S Club as they have deals with various dealers. May not be local but what is $40-$50 if you save $500 or $1000.

Here's a hint. If friends have one or both of those, then ask them to check on the appropriate Costco/Sams web site and find out the dealer and/or price. If it is worth it, join. I'll bet it is as you are being scalped.

Re: What kind of prices on 09 TCH?

My bank was suppose to have a deal for me to get the 2009 TCH for $750 over invoice no matter what options or packages. The dealer they sent me to said they would not honor the deal for Hybrids. Went to another dealer and they said they would match the deal for $750 over invoice. Before I went to the dealer, I checked their inventory and saw that they had one 2008 TCH with Nav, leather, etc ($31,119 MSRP). On the 2009's they were saying that the invoice for the top of the line was $29k so they wanted me to pay $29,750. That didn't match up with what Consumer Reports says is the invoice but there's no use arguing with an eager salesman and his floor manager...they seem to have print outs for any occasion. I offered $27,500 for the 2008 model they had and went up to $27,650 so the sales guy "could eat." Sales manager said it was impossible that they would lose money, etc. On my way out, the deal was done for $27,650 for 2008 TCH w/ everything. I am in SoCal.

I bought a fully loaded 2009 TCH for 28,450 on 4/18/08 that listed for 31,718. I feel fortunate that I was able to get 3,268 off. It was only two weeks later and that dealership had only one TCH in stock.

Re: What kind of prices on 09 TCH?

I know my folks just bought a loaded 09 a couple of weeks ago and I don't think they got too much off the sticker. Maybe a grand, give or take a hundred or so.
