07 Highlander Hybrid Differential, Transfer Case, and Transmission fluid changes

I have been looking around for a while and even posted on the Toyota Nation forum too, but can't find this information anywhere. I bought a '07 AWD HiHy with 95K on it and there are no service records of transmission, differential, or transfer case fluid changes. I'm not sure how these vehicles differ from the non-hybrids. Are all of these fluids serviceable on the hybrid? I have been told that they are sealed and can't be serviced by a Toyota technician. But then I see that it looks like they are serviceable on the regular Highlanders. Can anyone tell me if these fluids are serviceable and point me to the correct fluids and any instructions if they are available? Thanks in advance!

I guess I will answer my own question since I just did this myself. There is no transfer case in the front since the rear is driven by the electric motor. My details of my experience with the transmission fluid and rear differential are at the bottom of this link (The fluid changes were very easy to do for an average DIY person):

Hold on a second. There's no dipstick at all on a highlander hybrid and the only way to fill it is really from underneath. Not sure how you could see it was low (not visible anywhere, needs to be checked via fill hole) but if it's leaking then you'll need to figure out where the issue is first and fix it. Once you have I suggest changing the fluid as mentioned in this thread below (only use Toyota WS fluid).

You may have mistook the pink coolant for tranny fluid and if so then get some at the toyota dealer (again only use the Toyota Super Long Life coolant)

Re: 07 Highlander Hybrid Differential, Transfer Case, and Transmission fluid changes

I have a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid AWD, I purchased with now 203,000 miles. When I purchased there were no service records. So I plan to start new by replacing the timing belt, water pump, and service the transmission. I purchased on ebay a oil filter and gasket and having seen posts looks like I do not need them. I see posts about Toyota special oil but I see now that there is special synthetic oils specifically for CVT transmissions. Question is does the transmission service require a filter change? It appears that the transmission and axle drives use the same fluid and are changed underneath the vehicle?

This is all you need to do for a tranny fluid change on these vehicles.

Thanks. It appears that I do not need a transmission filter kit.

There is no transfer case, no driveshaft and no differential in sense you are used to it.
You use Toyota World Service ATF, 4.3 qrt front and 2.4 qrt rear. Make sure you undo ffirst. Some could not remove it and almost got stuck as they already drained the ATF.

Ukroz,

Thanks. What about the synthetic CVT fluid. I believe this is what Toyota World Servcie ATF is .
