In my Rx400h, you can enter "service mode" to override this. you must do it EACH time you start the car if you want to enter info on the go. Please be careful, and only use this if you've got a co-pilot.

Press the "menu" button. Then select volume. You must perform a series of presses that takes you into the service menu.

Press upper left, bottom left, upper left, then bottom left.

You will see a list of options on Service Menu. Select "override". You will need to press it for 3-5 seconds. You will hear a soft beep. When you let go, the white letters will have turned black to show this was selected.

You will need to hit back to get out of that screen.

Voila - you will be able to Allow your passenger to enter information into GPS.

Also, you'll be able to click on all the little arrows for more information (like the entire name of a street that won't scroll across the screen).

Coastaltech makes a product called the Lockpick that says it unlocks the Lexus Nav so you can do A LOT of things while moving that were previously locked out.


I got the Blue Lockpick version. Makes the phone function fully when moving, as well as the map program. Took about fifteen minutes to install- Well worth the money.
