what kind of new car would you buy?
 
gang, if we got to pick our type of car we wanted, and then pick the fuel type to fit it , which one would it be.....

hybrid

plug in hybrid

plug in hybrid diesel

plug in hybrid ethanol

ethanol only

ethanol with gas option

electric EV (with 200 mile range)

hydrogen fuel cell

That's easy. EV. I rarely drive more than 200 miles in one day. The added bonus is that I wouldn't have to worry about what the fashionable, politically correct fuel of the day is. The power plant would. Also, power plants convert raw fuel to electricity much more efficiently = less GHG's.

Plug in hybrid (assumption made that the ICE would support either gas or ethanol). Plug in would be for around town and hybrid for trips.

i definitly would go with an EV. We have 3 cars, so i am even looking into converting the escort.


I believe that with advances in lithium ion, and photo cells for the house roof top, we can generate enough clean electricity to run the cars.

Electric hands down. As stated before, large power companies are better at monitoring and correcting for pollution than most consumers and their individual autos. I rarely go on long road trips, and use my car as a commuter/people mover. Electric would fit the bill nicely.
